I don't keep up w/ charts.
I just know it sounds weak and it feels like it came and went w/ the wind cause I don't see nobody talking bout it no more.
So what you're saying is you're just talking out ya ass?

Lemon is NERD's highest charting song ever. They never had a song in the Hot 100 until this. This act was never popular in the mainstream and never all over the radio.

Most people talking about the shyt is weird and don't like it didn't even like NERD back then because guess what, the music was weird back then too and the mainstream didn't like it.

shyt, the only Neptunes solo songs to be big hits are Frontin and Happy. Pharell's first solo album didn't have any hits on it at all.

On their own, they've always been very experimental and never even tried for the mainstream success they go for when producing for others, ESPECIALLY with NERD.

It's one thing if you think it's wack but it hasn't flopped commercially at all. How is it getting no play and it's climbing the charts???

See, why does it always have to be like this? I'm making a observation.
No, what I'm saying is I think the song is wack and it seems like as quick as it came out, it's become an afterthought now cause I don't see it being embraced
Is it getting a lot of play and being talked about right now? *crickets*
Again, all I'm just saying it seems like it came out and then after a week or so it was forgotten.

Ok.
Like I said, I don't pay attention to charts.
I look how a song is embraced (if it's getting a lot of play and spins) and to determine if a nikka got a hit or not.
I don't see nikkas bumping this shyt left and right.
Outside of the internet, I ain't see a single motherfukker bump, let alone talk about this song.

How so?
Is this song getting a lot of play by nikkas u know right now?
Is it getting a lot spins on the radio? And don't act like the radio don't completely matter. Sure, it's changed cause now everybody streams but the radio still spins certain songs that are in high demand.
This song ain't getting a lot of play like u making it out to be, bruh.

nikkas gon really act llike this shyt is getting embraced like Bodak Yellow or some shyt right now?
And the only reason I'm using Bodak Yellow as an example is cause that's a song that's getting a lot of spins and shyt right now. It's a hit record
I don't like Cardi B or that song. But the song is a prime example of a song that's not a flop. Is it trash? Yeah, to me it is. But I can't deny it ain't a hit record.

Of course it's getting spins...How do you think a song gets on the charts?? :dwillhuh: So if a song doesn't go number 1 for weeks like Bodak Yellow, it's a flop???? :camby:

Instrumental was too sparse to carry whatever :trash: Rihanna and Pharell were doing. The minimalist 808 shyt would have worked if either one of them provided some melodic structure or at some point brought in harmonic structure to break the monotony, which N.E.R.D are actually great at doing......

shyt is awful regardless of whether is gets spins or not, you would expect more from N.E.R.D.....

Again, I gotta quote myself on this shyt, cause I see nikkas is missing the point I'm making.

Radio doesn't matter. Songs hit the charts now before radio even gets them to play, see "Rockstar" by Post Malone which went to #2 on Billboard almost entirely off the strength of the internet. Radio follows the internet. If "Lemon" keeps on climbing in clicks radio will pick it up. That's how the game has worked for years now. It's already getting more spins on radio, again, than any other NERD song before. This is their biggest hit. Keep ignoring that all you want :heh: It's literally impossible for you to call this song a flop when it's already their most successful single :dead: If this song is a flop then every song they've ever made is an even bigger flop and thus, what's even the fukking point of this thread :dwillhuh:

I'm a DJ throughout South Florida for the underground and indie crowds, and the first day the song dropped people have come up to me asking me if I had it, and it's caused a scene every time I've myself dropped it, or been in a building when a DJ dropped it since.

NERD has always made music for a particular audience, and now in 2017 with the internet, any particular audience has the power to dictate's a songs success more than ever before. NERD's audience has dictated that this song is a success.

You said yourself you don't follow the charts. Go take a look at the Hot 100 and be honest with yourself about how many of the songs you see there that you consider "getting a lot of play by nikkas you know". The music industry is more sectional than it's ever been before, as a big reaction by a small group to a song can propel it to major heights.

It's damn near 2018 and you're out here talking about the radio:picard:

But you can't tell me it's a straight flop when it's still climbing. Last week it was 63 and now it's 60. It's far from a smash hit like Bodak Yellow, but it's not a flop. It's their most successful single ever. It's 2017, so success is no longer dictated by the joints that your homies are listening to.
