What has going through this whole ordeal taught you so far and how will you move differently once its all over?

Most people (including me) are living in a hyper reality and are completely unaware of fragile society is. We tend to have a false sense of security in our modern society

Most people are sheep. Hence, the mass hoarding of toilet paper

We are in the midst of a great shift in global civilization. There is no going back to normal. Pandemics, climate change, AI, mass surveillance will define the coming decades

American exceptionalism is done (this is obvious now for than ever). We need look no further than our response to the spread of this virus. We've lost credibility on the world stage

Most people are serious about not taking things seriously. This is a quote from some where and its true. Most of us do no take shyt serious unless directly impacted

///////

How will I move differently

Become a full time prepper

Look into off the grid living

Link up with others who think similarly

Develop contingency plans for emergency situations for my family. One thing I notice is that my family lacks prepardness. Luckily we set up a system to help the most vulnerable in my family, where none of them ever need to leave the house for anything.

Look into dual citizenship. If you're in America like me it should be obvious why

South Korea and Japan deaded the corona virus asap

Not sure about Japan but yes SK, Vietnam, and Taiwan all deaded that shyt. One thing this stuff has all shown is that far Eastern societies are built better to handle collective issues. The west is in decline because of our individualism. The problems of the future will require collective action.

  • Importance of vitamins and keeping your immune system healthy. I think the safest thing for any virus is to make sure you're healthy enough to put up a fight. Definitely changed my eating habits and started taking vitamins.
  • Handwashing in general. I washed my hands after using the bathroom, before and after eating, but not to the extent of what I do now. I'm talking about after getting to my office, getting home and shyt. You forget how many dirty-ass places there are on your commutes.
  • I was starting to wear masks, but this is 100% confirmation that as long as I still live in NYC, from October -April, I'm wearing a mask on all commutes.
  • Importance of completely SOCIAL DISTANCING off everything. The worst thing you could do under crisis is add more stress during times like this. I've gotten better at turning my brain off and just reading updates instead of trying to read different articles on all this shyt. It's also important to get your facts from trustworthy sources. You shouldn't listen to Fox News, but don't fall for liberal media trying to overblow things for election purposes. They are both snakes. Read updates, maybe watch a briefing for a bit an just move on. Read a book, play a video game, watch tv, write... do things to keep your mind off things like this. Do not waste your time consuming or engaging with people that refuse to accept the reality of the situation. Do not bother with "THE SKY IS FALLING" or "THIS shyt IS A HOAX" people; it's pointless.
In general, I don't really spend money so I'm ok on that front. But I think that many people should look up at what's "essential" and start leaning towards careers like that. I'm working from home as is everyone else who lives with me, but it's hard out there for some who lost their entire lives over the president dikking around for two months.

Good points. I think I will be wearing a mask whenever I am with large groups of people. Hand washing will get done anytime i come from outside

Some things will go back to normal but a lot will change. It’s hard to say exactly what but I think a lot of changes will be for the better. I definitely believe there will be a movement towards health and cleanliness

Can you explain how the mass hoarding of toilet paper was sheepish? the people that have it don't have to risk exposure to get more of it.
