For a supposedly 'classic' and 'substantive' album, I'd like to know what people have actually learned from listening to Kendrick's latest effort.

For me, I learned that Kendrick doesn't know how to read that well (peep his struggle spoken word segments) and resorts to using funny voices to cover that up.

I also learned that he's currently abusing LSD, painkillers and/or alcohol in order to....I don't know why exactly. The dude has only managed to produce 2 albums in 4 years and doesn't have an hectic schedule, considering he doesn't headline any tours.

In terms of social issues, when you really listen to the album, he doesn't say anything at all.

Granted, the album is currently in the :trash: for many of us, but pray tell, what (if any) did you learn?

Sounds like you're attacking him.personally instead of arguing against the album. What does him not being able to read well (if that's true) have to do with artistry? Also a lot of musicians eat drugs for inspiration, having eaten my fare share of all the drugs you listed I will say that he probably has a drug problem, like a lot of people do. What does that have to do with the album? I have another random thing that has nothing to do with anything. According to the DEA 10% of Baltimore s population takes heroin.... That's has as much to do with TPAB as what you listed.

This thread is about what people have learned from this album. That's what I learned. If you can't contribute, you don't need to be here. :comeon:

I don't even like his style, was just responding to what you wrote. I'll talk about the album, the only thing you brought up was the absence of social issues. Conscious rap doesn't have to talk about social issues to be good.
I didn't learn shyt from listening to his album, but again he isn't a fav of mine. You're insinuating that his personal problems are interfering with his artistry, which nobody but him can talk about with authority. A lot of ppl like him so it'll be interesting to see the responses.

That use it all t least once a month, that's the definition of active use to the DEA. Yes google it, I didn't make that up. As my screen name says I know an OK amount about drugs lol.

Sorry not trying to derail your thread, know you don't want me in it to begin with....

well op...to be fair.....lets be honest.....what "lessons" can u really learn in 2 weeks? Doesnt it take time to build when refering to "lessons?" I can go to college for 4 years but the "lessons" I learn won't manifest till I apply them. You're asking such a question prematurely

I learned how idiotic people can be on both sides of the TPAB argument.

Also just because there's a "message" doesn't mean it was put there for you to learn...none of this shyt is new, not even the basis for the title. The shyt wasn't a history lesson/class, it's an artist expressing himself and people either resonating with it or not.

His overrating makes me judge his music harshly. IMO KDot is just a D teamer. The push to make him elite artist is :scusthov:

fixed. If we're comparing Kendrick to great rappers across the spectrum of hip hop, Kendrick is a D level artist.

For modern hip hop, C/B- level. There are lots of rappers in the underground that attempt to make songs just as 'deep' and spoken-wordy as Kendrick, but don't have any push whatsoever.
