I'd say up until 2005. 2004 had some good quality. After that, well.....
90's music was mediocre outside of R&B, Hip-Hop and Grunge.

2000's had way better music than today. Besides maybe Migos, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, Asap Rocky, Wiz Khalifia , Rae Sremmurd, J Cole and a few other artists that have come out in the last 8 years, I haven't really been feeling this decade when it comes to music. And this mumble rap crap needs to die. Also every region needs to go back to having their own distinctive sound instead of everybody sounding the same or everyone doing Trap type music.

Classic albums and mixtapes throughout the 2000s (Kanye, Ross, Carter III, even sleepers like Kids in the Hall, early Kendrick) but it was almost like an identity crisis made it really hit and miss.

The early 00s were piff
The late 00s was like the Dark Ages for music. At one point, I was only listening to the music my homies and I were making. There were some decent albums being put out by Kanye, Lupe, Nas, The Foreign Exchange, etc., but the good stuff was hard to find. At least now, we have streaming services that enable us to EASILY find great underground music. Even the mainstream Trap shyt of today is far better than Snap/Ringtone Rap.
