Even in a down year he's been great this year. If he's like this every year (and declining) then that's a problem.

This "down year" is worst than last year which was considered a down year. At what point is he just not as good as he used to be? Answer: he isn't. I always wanted to keep Albert, but not as the expense of hamstringing the team for a decade for a player who is declining by each year.

A down year for Pujols is a career year for most.

I'm not convinced he's going to hamstring us at all. We're not the cardinals. Just disappointed we're not getting elite/superstar production at the beginning of the contract, which was the point of the signing. IF we had that we'd be in the playoffs, probably. His power has been down but what's really made him decline so much is his mediocre walk and OBP rates

33 mil for 15 to 20 hrs a year is a good contract to you?

15/20 HRS? A Rod has hit 302 HRs in his 9 years with The Yankees. That's almost half of his career HR total he's hit with The Yankees. A Rod has never hit under 30 HRs in his tenure as Yankee except for last year and this year(injuries). He's clearly in decline but he's 37 fukking years old.

He's Griffey in Cinci status :yeshrug:

Y'all can't blame the GM on that, tho. Puljols, Wilson, and Greinke, had nikkas sucking each other's dikks over this move, and rightfully so. GM should just put a hit on some of his fam on the island for not coming through :manny:

You're not in the playoffs because of your pitching/bullpen. Angels are number 1 in blown saves in the AL.

Which is why it's the worst contract in baseball.

So that's two years under 30 and he still has five years left on his deal. In other words, he's probably going to hit 30 in just three of those 10 seasons of his contract. That is terrible no matter how you spin it for the amount they foolishly gave him.

Edit: Howard's is actually worse, but it's close. At least the Yanks can slide A-Rod to DH.

Yeah y'all aren't the Cardinals because if y'all were you wouldn't make it rain for 10 years for a player who hasn't reached that level you were hoping for since 2009. It's smarter to make good business deals than think you can just buy a 'ship. Cardinals have plenty of money, that doesn't they have to wild out for 10 years if it isn't worth it.

yeah , but the cardinals dont have the money we have. a contract like that really would cripple the cardinals franchise. with our new TV Deal we can afford it. its not rocket science that pujols wont be worth his contract at the end. you dont think the front office knew that? thats the price you pay and you have to be willing to pay to get elite prod. i remember people saying vernon wells would ruin the angels ability to make more moves. the next year we got wilson and pujols.
