I find it sad that the threadstarter feels it took this event to "mark the beginning of the 'resurgent' black man and woman", like black people haven't personally been inspired to better themselves before this.

i think, as a perpetually battered people, it takes exceptionally inspiring instances of black achievement to awaken our potential. this win, after all of the venom he's been subjected to, is significant as a black man living in a country still reeling from the legacy of slavery. this victory is uplifting and empowering.

:takedat:

i feel if you can't understand that, you're either a c00n or a cac. take your pick

This win (for him) is indeed significant...and if you feel empowered and uplifted by it, then that's great. But you seem to infer that black folks needed this event to feel their potential could be "awakened". I don't think you're giving us enough credit.

Furthermore, as i'm sure you know, this won't be the end of the "venom" he'll be subjected to.

:heh: at this thread, it will still be the same ol shyt in the black community.

Its funny as back in 08 I thought Obama being in the white house would improve things in the black community, not him actually doing things to improve the community per se, but just seeing a black man in that position would inspire blacks to be the best they can be in life.

But that did not happen, well not on a large scale at least.

Y'all need to be realistic about Obama and realize he only controls one factor of the US government, what is he supposed to do about social factors that is largely out of his control, is he supposed to all of a sudden fix the loads of Americans who are complete dumb asses and are proud of it

we did this four years ago and the black man and woman are even more apart than ever before :snoop:

Basically.

CACs gon' CAC, and nikkas gon' nig. :yeshrug:

I like where you're going with the thread premise, but the reality is that it shouldn't (and DOESN'T) take an election to bring the Blackman and Blackwoman together. We should want to do it for OURSELVES, for the preservation of our kind, not because we were compelled by who won the presidency.
