In baseball which has no cap... superstars go to horrible teams just because they overpaid. Would Lebron or Durant go to the bucks if they paid them way more than any other team?

Howard left 30 mill on the table to go to the rockets

Breh you are so wrong its rediculous
Shyt teams in small markets for 1 cant afford a top 10 player

Only 1 time in the history of modern baseball has a top 20 player left a contending team to a shyt team for the money
Arod in 2000 going from the Mariners to the Rangers
While the Rangers aren't a small market team...
they were in last place

This wouldnt work and before everyone comes in here saying bu.. bu.. but MLB doesnt have a salary cap Thats because you cant really buy a championship in baseball. The Yankees usually spend the most money every year but dont win every year. If I can get a team like Davis Lebron durant and Westbrook theres no way I could lose. If you take top superstars and put them on the same team in basketball the biggest problem would be is that there would be no one to challenge them.

baseball has to many factors in play to buy rings. but the nba would be a lakers knicks finals every season though.

2 words: Robinson Cano

And if we're just talking contracts, some of the craziest deals came from small markets

no salary caps and no guaranteed contracts would create the best product on the field. Players playing for unlimited money and knowing it can end as soon as they suck.

that disability insurance would be expensive as fukk with no guaranteed contracts

What's your defintion of a superstar?

Robinson cano Just left the yankees to go to a team that hasn't made the playoffs in over a decade. Why? They have him more money than anybody else. Pujols left the WS champs to go to a team that didnt make the playoffs... Why? Because they gave him a quarter bill

Cano left to go to a Mariners team that is up and coming
while not already established everyone knew who followed the ALWest that they were a big bat away
and now they are like 4 games over 500

And you bring up Pujols
The Angels was 5 games over 500 the year before
There lineup was already good with Kendrick, Hunter, Wells and Morales.
Throw in Pujols
and they were on paper wayyyy better than the Angels team that beat the Giants in the World Series 10 years prior.

Both teams were not shyt
As a player signing a contract you look at potential also
The Mariners were about to be over the hill in Canos eyes
and the Angels were already a good team

Are players signing to shytty teams in the nba today? No

Lack of salary cap will help small market teams overcompensate for their shytty cities and actually compete.

basically; no matter what in baseball IF THE OWNER is commited to winning finacially, you can compete over time. detroit went from literally having the worst season in baseball history, to signing player after player while building the farm system for pitching and ended up where they are while the city recessed beyond belief.
