Dead or not, the gameplay got stale to me. Keep thinking that directly correlates with community. The people I played with are the same people I've spent hours playing RSV with, Halo 3, Reach and 4 with, multiple CoDs, and now CSGO with. They tried to get me into WoW but I wasn't feeling that. The gameplay didn't hold me.

Couldn't tell you what dropped at all since March FPS-wise on PC, been too busy learning how to play CSGO(AT) and running BF4, and none of my nikkas even play that but I got the Premium pass and even double dipped on PS4 cause it's that good and enjoyable. TF got stale to me. Had nothing to do with community. Obviously you won't accept that but that's all there is to it.
You say community doesn't correlate to enjoyment, then you immediately say the people you played it with are the same people you been playing all these other games with aka community :snoop:

But bruh, the show Scorpion is based on me :manny: I'm like the entire team rolled into one, minus Happy's skills cuz I'm not a bytch :lawd:
Anywayz, its already been established that you didn't really play it. The other info like how your "group" wanted you to play WoW basically confirms what I thought I was dealing with. You said you playing counterStrikeGo my nikka :mjlol: Honestly, I respect that on the low, but the majority of those types wouldn't be cool enough to sit at the same lunch table as a nikka na mean. I might take your jello :birdman:

Whose talking about graphics? If you look at the lists, almost every classic game was apart of an established franchise. Only 3 notable originals released, ICO DMC and J&D

While we have WD, Destiny, Shadow of Mordor, Child of Light, Transistor, And the evil within. All new IPs all very popular and or highly praised (not to mention games dropped on the XB1).

Ps2 launched in 2000 with 3 ports/remakes of arcade fighting games. And would go on to receive more in the likes of RE: Code Veronica Crazy taxi, Marvel vs Capcom, Virtual Tennis,
Cap com vs Snk 2, DoA 2, Max Payne etc.

Now I'm not saying this year is better than 2k1 :woah: but I do think it's a bit hyperbolic to deem this the worst ever.

The big games that year > the big games thus year. But they were sequels/ entries into a well established franchised. Which you seem to be going hard against this gen.

Heres the thing. Well a couple things.

Your big list isnt telling the whole story.

What youre not accounting for is two things.

1. Third party exclusives were quite common back then. Where as now its very very rare. So to properly compare you have to look at each systems games list.

Another thing, compare say xbox first party output to 360s. Its a huge difference.

2. I think in theory theres nothing wrong with sequels as long as theyre doing something new. Like Resident evil 4 wasnt just a sequel. Reskinned cod 12 is just another sequel.

More over, my concern is gameplay.

With each gen, budgets rise. Studios are constantly on the brink of failing.

This has led to less risks being taken. Diversity in games is way down.

Capcom has come out and said they wont release a sequel to a game if it sells less than 2 million. Games come out and sell 5 million and are considered a failure financially. Thats not a good enviroment to be in.

Think about how many insane, quirky games that came out in earlier gens. Those games now wont make it past meetings because they arent commercially viable. Instead we get generic Space FPS #1080.

The problems are bigger than genre defining games etc. Whats gone is the mid tier games. Games that werent AAA but had interesting new ideas and didnt need to sell well to be a success.

Well where do you think Indie developers are in all of this?

Every one harps on them but I think they are essential in keeping the balance that made past gens great.

I feel that they have the ability to take the place of smaller development teams from years prior, that developed those niche, lower-mid tier titles. Also, as the tech becomes more familiar, I think indie titles will see a boost in quality .

My two most played systems by a large margin are Wii U and Vita.

I use my vita as an indie machine. Games like Fez, limbo, etc I've had a lot of fun with.

I am looking to indies but even a lot of indies are stuck in this weird retro gaming loop that qhile fun arent quite there yet.

I've spoken on this before but I thought it'd be interesting if indies developed games using xbox/dreamcast/gamecube esque wise and try there hand in that. That way it wouldnt be hugely cost prohibitive and they could introduce possibly new genres or even just new gameplay techniques. Because even though they seem stuck in this 2D retro world right now indies have introduced a few neat ideas.

Another thing is, what people arent taking into account is, in previous gens, in the firat year there was always huge games that set the tone.

Nobody is saying every system had 40 classics year one. But they had a game that set the bar. Mario 64 changed gaming. Halo changed FPS. Gta 3 changed open world.

This gen, what has set the tone? Sequels, rehashes, DLC, microtransactions now etc. Nobody is saying their hasnt been a few good games. But have they elevated or changed gaming for the better? No.

Thats the game I want. A game to set the bar and say THIS is next gen.
