I liked Goosebumps but it was p*ssy compared to TFTC and other horror shows. The Goosebumps stories never really scared me when I read them but I still enjoyed them. I was a horror geek in my childhood. Anything to do with it, I was there.

The 80's and 90's were the golden age of TV horror shows.

Tales From The Crypt
Tales From The Darkside
Monsters
The Twilight Zone
Are You Afraid of the Dark?

There is probably more that I can't remember right now.

I feel bad for young horror fans today. They don't have the piff we had.

I got all the Tales From The Crypt seasons on DVD except for season 7, the last one.

Friday the 13th the series

Me being a young and persuasive chap with a cool 1st grade teacher, I convinced her to read these to our class during story time. That ended quickly when other kid's parents start calling and complaining that their kids were coming home looking like :merchant:
Dap and rep breh. I was going to post this. Goosebumps is child shyt compared to Scary Stories and More Scar Stories. I remember there was a particular story that i always used to think about, and its the one where the lady was being followed by a stranger in her car. The stranger was flashing his high beams constantly, come to find out there was a murderer in her backseat and every time the killer would poke his head up the stranger would flash his lights.:damn:

They had a high school spinoff that was GOAT. Like final destination shyt where a senior died in each book until the whole class was gone

Edit: it was part of the fear street series. Those were the more mature versions of the goosebumps books

I made a thread about this that hasn't been upped in a bit but...

Our childhood nightmares are coming to the big screen courtesy of the messed up mind of Guillermo Del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth) brehs :merchant:

Guillermo del Toro is making a Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie

Guillermo del Toro, the director of Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, and Crimson Peak, is developing a movie version of classic children's book trilogy Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Deadline reports that del Toro will produce the movie for CBS Films, based on the books written by Alvin Schwartz, and may potentially direct it too.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was first published in 1981, and famously illustrated its spooky tales with chilling images from artist Stephen Gammell, whose ethereal ink pictures impacted a generation and helped lead to the book becoming the most banned from placement by the American Library Association for being too terrifying. A reprinted version of the books, released in 2011, replaces Gammell's original art with less haunting alternatives, but for many the damage was already done.

The movie version of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark seems to be a pet project for del Toro, who confirmed that he had started developing "a film based on a favorite book of youth" on Twitter today. It sounds like fans of the books can rest assured that del Toro will approach the material with respect — the horror expert owns 10 of Gammell's original illustrations for the series, which he gleefully calls "scary as fukk."
