Obviously it depends on the crowd...if it's more young people, Drake is winning. If it's more older people, Jay is winning. If it's a decent mix? I'd say Jay wins. Honestly assuming a normal, mixed crowd the only person who might beat Jay at that shyt is Kanye.

Everyone knows this lol. Most of aubreys big hits are pop and rnb and he would get exposed something silly in a rap records only battle.

It’s like real life didn’t happen already

We already have been exposed to how Verzuz really goes…

Dipset had way more hits than the Lox and y’all see how that went

Then a last year didn’t Kanye and Drake (the most famous rapper ever) do a joint concert that had Drake fans walking out crying and making YouTube videos on how bad Drizzy got washed?

See Verzuz isn’t really just about who’s “better”

It’s the better performer with the better stage presence and crowd control and all that

So now, who do you think wins?

I was an extreme Jay-Z fan growing up but, Drake got it.

Eventhough he's "soft" and "corny", he's Jay's successor. You mix Jay with Kanye/Ja Rule and you get Drake.

He's been hot for 14 years. A lifetime in rap music. As much as I love Jay, he really became "Jay" in 1998 and 14 years after that was 2012 and he was not the HNIC at the point like Drake still is now. Another example is that Wayne (2007-09), 50 Cent (2003-05), and T.I. (2006) were honestly hotter than Jay at various points in the 2000s. Nobody was ever hotter than Drake.

Jay obviously the overall better MC and lyricist but Drake destroys him in a versuz. It would get really bad for Jay in that format. No one has as many hits as Drake period in rap

Verzuz battles aren't just centered around popularity though.

Jay has more classic rap records than Drake point blank and that's going to stand out in a Verzuz battle. And he's a much better performer.

Also, even if Drake pulls out his pop records or songs for the ladies, Jay literally can just pull out Crazy In Love, Umbrella, Heartbreaker, Drunk In Love, Frontin, I Just Wanna Love U, Excuse Me Miss, Deja Vu, Change Clothes, Empire State Of Mind, Run This Town, On To The Next, Suit & Tie, etc. to counter it and it'll be better received for the most part.

Jay has 4 decades of records he can choose from while Drake only has 1.5 decades which will make a big difference in terms of who would resonate with the Verzuz crowd more especially with the 30+ crowd.

It'll be a LOX vs. Dipset situation all over again.

I think it depends on generation. As far as Versuz goes that’s the real rap fans, so naturally they’ll prefer Hov. But if casuals and birds tune in, Drake might take it.

Jays type of classics and hits will however require that you know your history. Drake can play 20 songs from the part 5 years.

Other than that, Jay is just smarter, wittier and from the battle culture.

Some of ya'll are seriously underestimating Jay in this thread. I'm not even a Jay stan like that but he would definitely murk Drake in this format, especially since performance is involved.

Jay has way more classic hip hop songs and B-Sides than Drake. Imaginary Players, Big Pimpin, 99 Problems, Dirt Off Your Shoulder, PSA, Dead Presidents, Encore, U Don't Know, Song Cry, So Ghetto, Hard Knock Life, Can't Knock The Hustle, Do It Again, Change The Game, Dear Summer, Where I'm From, Dynasty Intro, This Can't Be Life, A Week Ago, Story Of OJ, 4:44, Otis, nikka What nikka Who, etc. Any attempt from Drake to counter these songs with his own hard/lyrical tracks will lead to him getting embarrassed.

And, if Drake goes the commercial route, Jay can counter him with NIP, Izzo, Clique, The Beyonce collabs, Umbrella, I Just Wanna Love U, Frontin, Excuse Me Miss, Change Clothes, ESOM, Run This Town, On To The Next One, Heartbreaker, 03 Bonnie and Clyde, etc.

And Jay can also use features like Diamonds From Sierra Leone, DDA, God Did, I Got The Keys, I Love The Dough, Go Crazy, Seen It All, All The Way Up(Remix), Mr. Carter, So Appalled, Is That Your Chick?, What We Do, Money Ain't A Thang, etc.

It'll literally be a LOX vs. Dipset situation all over again where people will initially bet on Drake because of the hits and numbers but Jay will end up winning cause of his superior performance and song choices.
You must be a Jay-Z fan because I can guarantee that most hip-hop fans don't know/remember a solid one-third of these songs.

You kats are acting like this is 2007 where Jay was still a top 5 rapper in regards to popularity musically-speaking.

People said the same thing verbatim about the LOX before their Verzuz battle. You can even find threads here in the Booth with people using this argument against them before the battle began.

Jay literally had a whole concert performing his B-Sides in 2015 which wasn't that long ago.

If Jay starts off performing Imaginary Player or PSA, the Verzuz crowd is going to go wild even if those songs weren't radio hits that IG thots or teenage girls bumped.

Saying otherwise shows that you must not have really seen how these battles play out.
