Sorry man, between Al-Qaeda and now ISIS, sh*t is turning into some Mad Max type of sh*t. Iraq is the Middle Eastern version of Mexico, there's just too much money there, billions, so all kinds of mercenaries show up funded by God knows who to see if they can cake and make a quick buck. Some places just need a heavy hand, and the Middle East is one of them. Say what you want, but Egypt, Iraq, Libya, etc were all better off with dictatorship/ruling families than they are now as a "liberated" people. Speak on it.

People should have the right to choose their own leaders. I don't care who leads there unless it effects American safety.

There are 23 countries in the world that are ran by dictatorship governments America does nothing about.....

Invading Iraq had very little to do with "liberating" the citizens:mjpls:

You're right. It's a mixture of things. The military industrial complex makes it so America has to be in wars in order to justify the massive military spending which employs alot of ppl who aren't ready to give up those jobs. It seems like we're always after a boogeyman that we need to direct this aggression towards. In the 50s it was communists now it's terrorists. Pretty much there's already a set in place narrative for America in the ME. Not to mention whatever natural resources we can exploit.

ah yes, Christopher Hitchens, the blowhard Trotskycon that staked his reputation on Bush's imperial crusade and died a disgraced buffoon.
HITCHENS WAS A DRINK-SODDEN a$$hole, BUT THIS RECOUNTING OF HUSSEIN'S TAKEOVER IS ACCURATE, BROTHER! MAKING A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO ALLOW A MAN LIKE THAT TO CONTINUE HIS REIGN OF TERROR CAN'T BE CALLED THE MORAL CHOICE TO MAKE, DUDE! AT THE SAME TIME, INVADING IRAQ AND BLOWING UP THOUSANDS OF CIVILIANS IS CERTAINLY ALSO WRONG, MEAN GENE! BEING POWERFUL OFTEN MEANS SECLUDING YOURSELF FROM DOING THE RIGHT THING, JACK!

to be sure, knocking off Baathist rivals like a mob boss was terrible, but this sexed up description of Saddam as some Hilter/Stalin hybrid and his dramatization of Iraq as some dystopian nightmare that makes North Korea look like Las Vegas is done with one purpose in mind: to give credence to an illegal war of aggression he backed and supported.

I just an article about how ISIS is terrorizing female doctors in Mosul and when they're not sexually assaulting them, they're forcing them to perform their duties fully veiled. I think most Iraqis would prefer Saddam and his "reign of terror" over a broken, failed state run by sectarian gangs that can't defend its own borders from a few hundred Jihadists.
