Did you even through the posts?

Nobody is saying an NFL player can just suddenly pick up track and compete in the Olympics.

What we are saying is that those with track potential, early in their lives, were pushed into football and basketball.

Randy Moss was the example presented. He was running the same times as Bolt was in high school. Had Randy focused 100% on track, he would have been an Olympic sprinter.

Randy had a shytty work ethic...so we cant speak in definites. He barely took football serious.

Moss ran a 21.95 in the 200...Bolt ran 20.13 as a high schooler. There is no comparison.

If Randy Moss applied himself at track maybe he would've been an Olympic bronze medalist, but he's no Bolt.

Usain Bolt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At age 15, Bolt was running roughly the same times as Moss. The difference is Bolt was 100% focused on track and continued to improve his times.

Randy was playing basketball, football, baseball AND running track! And he was elite at all of them! He didn't docus on improving his track times. He focused on becoming a better WR.

Had he focused on track 100%, Randy would have been an elite sprinter.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Bolt. He's great. But, I'm just pointing out the nature of sports in the US. If you're big and have elite speed, track isn't going to be the sport you pursue. It's probably going to be football or basketball.

Because, if you're fast, you probably are explosive, which is a great asset on the basketball court.

I know. And he's still a HOF WR and probably only second to Jerry Rice in terms of the all-time great WRs.

Oh yea..i agree with you on that. I was just trying to let it known to those who think he couldve been an olympian. Regardless if he ran track throughout high school and college, dude had a shytty work ethic. That alone would make him qualifying damn near impossible.

Yeah. I was speaking mainly in theory as it relates to Randy. His attitude has always been sh!tty. But, there's no denying his raw talent.

With the right attitude, training and a 100% focus on track, he certainly had the tools to be Bolt BEFORE Bolt.

Moss ran a ~4.3 in his workouts for teams this year! He's 35! In his younger days, he was ridiculously fast.

Let's be honest if americans actually cared about the 100m(/200m/400m) we would be the first to go under 9 seconds.

:what:
Based on the premise of this thread, America cares.

Why would Americans not expect Jamaicans to be proud of their country. Aren't you proud of America for winning the gold? A person can still be proud of their country even if they no longer live there. I don't understand why there is so much animosity over this.

whoever isnt happy its because they are upset so they make up stores beginning with "if" if we tried, if we focused on track and field, " if we thought track and field was big..ifs dont get a gold but it it is a good excuse word...another common word is "why" why dont you have a good basketball team, why dont you have as much medals as usa, why can you only win in those events..same garbage statements every sports post when comparing countries...so yeah basically let the haters hate everyone sees it but them to try and have animosity with a country the size of a small state and compare and show superiority is pure ignorance, and also a insecure trait.

Bolt is one of a kind. Even if all the NBA and NFL players trained for this event for their entire lives.

Bolt will still be the fastest. No one is going to beat his record anytime soon. Not till he's done merkin the 100m for prolly 8 more years.
