They don't hear you though. The 90s Blue/Gold era is better than the movies, and it was a lot of fun because we were kids, but none of those 90s stories are touching the greatness of the volcano base fight with Magneto, the Proteus story arc, the Dark Phoenix Saga, or Days of Future Past. There's a reason the cartoons, movies, and games keep coming back to the Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past instead of X-cutioner's song.
And that's no shade against Jim Lee, he's a brilliant artist. His stuff is light years better than the X-men comics they're coming out with today, and some might say that Jim Lee's era was the last hurrah for the series being truly great.

But Claremont and Byrne are just :banderas:

That might be the GOAT run of any team-based superhero comic in history.
You could make an argument for Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four being the best, but that would ONLY be going on it's historical importance to the medium and nothing else.

EDIT: God Loves Man Kills is the only other X-men comic that I'd put in the same league as the Claremont/Byrne stories.

On the marvel front I think Simonson Thor, Byrne Fantastic Four were also top.

They should have gone with the Beta Ray Bill storyline in the MCU instead of giving us that weak Thor 2 :martin:
They should have stuck closer to Walt Simonson's run in general as far as the movies are concerned.

And John Byrne Fantastic Four is a classic run.
When they had EVERYBODY in the cut fighting Galactus :krs:

Speaking of classic runs, Frank Miller's Daredevil stories are legendary.
Just put on some Wu-tang instrumentals while you're reading to get that full experience :ahh:

johnny can go supernova, sues a monster and can kill you by looking at you and you wont even know what happened. reed is the same, but he wouldnt have to be in the room unless he wanted. really the only odd man out is ben
The Thing can go toe to toe with the Hulk.
In fact in their latest fight The Thing beat the Hulk (Ben got seriously fukked up though).

All this x-men being a metaphor for civil rights and MLK/Malcolm because white people were too racist to have negroes starring in their books :mjlol: Which is cute, but now 60 + years later and you see more black people getting shine in Avengers books than in the fukkin franchise that's supposed to "represent" them.:heh:

The "c00n" talk actually reminds me of the tone-deaf writing when a cac writer had a "c00n" black woman chastise Kitty Pryde for taking offense that a white man said mutie-lover, just so the writer could have Kitty say ******-lover to the black woman's face to check her; to make some tasteless meta comparison to the civil rights movement.

Or the other time where they had Wolverine talking shyt about the entire continent of Africa including Nelson Mandela, with Storm quiet as a mouse and no alternative take provided.

X-Men stay trying to make garbage real world comparisons to seem equal to blacks, knowing damn well that if mutants existed in the "real world", America would say that black mutants were domestic terrorists/uncontrollable thugs that need to be gunned down on site, while saying the violent white mutants are just suffering trauma and mental health issues trying to adapt to their incredible new abilities in these stressful times:mjpls:
