They don't hear you though. The 90s Blue/Gold era is better than the movies, and it was a lot of fun because we were kids, but none of those 90s stories are touching the greatness of the volcano base fight with Magneto, the Proteus story arc, the Dark Phoenix Saga, or Days of Future Past. There's a reason the cartoons, movies, and games keep coming back to the Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past instead of X-cutioner's song.
And that's no shade against Jim Lee, he's a brilliant artist. His stuff is light years better than the X-men comics they're coming out with today, and some might say that Jim Lee's era was the last hurrah for the series being truly great.
But Claremont and Byrne are just
That might be the GOAT run of any team-based superhero comic in history.
You could make an argument for Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four being the best, but that would ONLY be going on it's historical importance to the medium and nothing else.

In fact in their latest fight The Thing beat the Hulk (Ben got seriously fukked up though).

Which is cute, but now 60 + years later and you see more black people getting shine in Avengers books than in the fukkin franchise that's supposed to "represent" them.
