It's on the developers to either optimize their shyt or scale the graphics back. They should be targeting 30fps locked foremost, if not going for 60fps.
There's a lot of games that are 30fps but the reason why it might seem lower is because of frametimes. Bloodborne and basically other From games are like that.

I'm not familiar with that level of technicality. But I do know Witcher 3 was hovering at 25-28fps a lot of the time, Fallout 4 is apparently bad on consoles and Rise of the Tomb Raider had input lag and dipped to the high 20s during combat (Xbone version, 360 version was fine surprinsingly).

I don't understand this new level of obsession with framerates. Frame drops or "slowdown" has literally ALWAYS been a part of gaming, i never remember people talking about it so much. A game highly regarded as one of the best of last gen "The Last of Us" had poor framerate and I never heard anyone mention it.

If a game dips below 30fps, it starts to feel like shyt to play.

Play a game in 30fps, and then play it in 60fps and you'll see. In 60fps it'll control better and be more fun.

You saying The last of us "felt like shyt to play?
nah it was okay. Though if you played TLOU on PS4 at 60fps, and then tried going back to PS3, it probably would feel shytty.

My standards have changed though. WHen you play something like MGSV at 60fps on PS4, and then try going to Witcher 3 at 27-30fps, it's rough. :francis:

That never bothers me. A 30fps game like Drive club at a locked 30fps looks amazing and switching to say Gran Turismo doesn't mess with me at all.

There's been 60fps games since the earliest games. Did playing something like Devil May Cry on ps2 make playing Ocarina of time an issue?

I was used to 30fps though. Only recently that I've been exposed to 60fps in console games, it's hard to not want it in every game. :wow:

But many games were 60fps several generations ago. Y'all just now became aware.

For a memory trip:
Metal Gear Solid 2 was 60fps
Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were 60fps.
Jak and Daxter
Crash Bandicoot

Pretty much. I only started knowing about this shyt last gen when games like COD4 were talked about being 60fps. Straight up though, if you sit someone down with a game at 60fps, and then sit them down with that same game at 30fps, they will say the 30fps version plays worse.

And if the 30fps version dips to 25fps, :trash:

That's how I feel nowadays. There's a reason MGSV is the best controlling game of all time, and 60fps is a small but significant part of it. :yeshrug:

My boy has a GTX 980TI and a I5 4690k and a 4K TV.
I went over to his spot and he had MGSV cranked up on as settings. It was running at 30fps. I showed him the difference. He's still playing it at 30fps. Most people don't care. On a console I don't care because I can't change it.
