Let's discuss the console war threads

Ok so I mentioned mods and the people that usually seem to be in the thick of the console war arguments just to start off this discussion.

As we know, new console announcements are looming and as of late, the console wars have been heating up. This has caused several threads to deteriorate to the point that they basically all become the same thread. Honestly, most of these threads start off with a premise that will only lead to fanboys arguing with eachother (e.g. Orbis more powerful than Durango, Durango with more RAM, etc) As such, Chewy, has rightfully taken to merging them into one thread. I don't think this is specifically a Courtdog thing because as far as I can tell - I see the same people engaging in what becomes the same arguments.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but as far as I can tell - this is what you all want. That's why I never do anything about these threads. Because if you didn't want that, then you would probably do like me and never enter these threads. As far as I can tell, the names I mentioned that are not mods love to argue about this shyt. I like Chewy's strategy of merging because they basically are all the same thread but I don't see what else can be done.

In any case, I'm making this thread to get input from you all and everyone else now that the mods are starting to get mentioned more and more. Here are some questions I have:

- Do you guys like the console wars and console war threads?
- Do you think we should be doing anything more than merging into one thread?
- Do you not like when we merge? If not, why not and what's a better solution?
- Do you feel anyone poster is worse than the others at instigating the situations? If so, why? And if so, do you think some action should be taken against them?

And please note that if your post is hard to read (for example, if it's basically a series of non-connected thoughts put together poorly) then it's going to be difficult, if not impossible, for me to take your feedback into account. I'll make every effort to understand you but I can't do anything if you're making it hard on me.

I like the console war threads as it shows people are excited about tech. Its the threads that are started that have NO information in them that bother me.

I don't like merging of the threads for reasons I have stated underground. I think its healthy especially for such a young and raw forum.

IMO , more and more new info will be coming out especially for the ps4 since its closer to being annoucment when RELEVANT new info comes out allow the threads to be made and let them sit there as long as there active, once they become bytch matches then throw them into the merged thread

Would you say that the rumors that are coming now aren't relevant? I would argue that they are.

Most of the shyt I see Courtdog post is a reply. Even a lot of new threads are replies. Why do people still indulge him?

Would you say that the rumors that are coming now aren't relevant? I would argue that they are.

I think they are, i feel were at the a 50/50 point with the info coming out, half of it is bullshyt, half will end up being legit, as the time for the announcement comes closer we will get more legit info is going to get released, thats why i think we need new threads on them, and not let them get lost in mega threads

Nah we all here cuz we want to be. I don't think any action is necessary except for whoever is offended to use the ignore button...if there is one

Honestly I feel as if most people, me included forget that the console war thread exists at time. Typically, Courtdog or someone else creates a thread with some info that ostensibly seems to be deserving it's own discussion but then turns into a mindless debate lol.

Merging seems to be the best option because if someone makes a thread(some poster who's not in the thick of things) that may incite lengthy tirades by "that guy", then merging it into the console wars thread removes the excess threads with all the same topics. Honestly I don't think nothing has happened so far here that warrants drastic measures. Only thing I'll say is people who go into threads that are official as in "Official God of war thread" etc. and troll should have their posts deleted if they go in trolling repeatedly and blatantly It may not be entirely fair as some people do have legitimate things to say and we shouldn't have to be censored but when you just come in barging like "Anyone who buys this is clearly a moron and sheep and should have respect for themselves!"
Other types of typical trolling include:

• Posting a review score that doesn't represent the aggregate of all reviews. Like Courtdog posting 2 less than stellar reviews for a game that has a 87 metacritic.(Ni No Kuni)
• Saying _____>>>>>>>>that just for the heck of it.
• trying to discredit other people's opinion as "stan, fanboy, funboy" talk
• and lastly posting user issues from the internet about said game to prove that the game is "buggy" when the poster itself doesnt' care nor plays the game

Other than that, everything else doesn't bother me.

As soon as I see him post in a console thread, I dip. People should really ignore dude but once he jumps in a thread it becomes dumpster status.

On topic I've always been neutral on this console war shyt. To be honest, I'm with any system that has a good amount of games catered to my tastes despite the guts of the system.

I see what you're saying about taking action against trolls in targeted threads... but I kinda think the trolls get weeded out of those threads when they're ignored. For example, take my Vita thread. It started off with people talking about it collecting dust. Now it's a platinum threads that the trolls never enter. Yea I think ignoring is the best bet. You know what basically if people are ignored but the user makes repeated attempts to evoke something out of the posters(doing all the things I said above over and over) then they should get a stern warning.
