Lets expose this N.Y. hype machine

When did you realize these NY teams and athletes were constantly being overhyped? Yes, NY has produced some of the greatest athletes of all time, but it doesnt begin to compare to the trash they hype and force feed us all over our televisions/radios.

Coli brethren, I summon you (NY'ers too if you are brave enough) to help expose the filth they have thrown our way.

I'll start with Sebastian Telfair. Hes a decent pro ball player but he was hyped like he was the next coming of Isaiah Thomas. Why did they want us to invest so much time and energy in this guys story? Why couldnt he just be another guy that made it from humble beginnings?

i got love for nyc as a city but i do see the hype machine in sports and music ....for every biggie there's 20 french montanas tho..... but i guess when your in the largest market it's unavoidable

it is gettin more exposed thanks to social network before there was kind of a mystery/aura about nyc that got them automatic cred but social media helps expose the phonies.....

Jeremy Lin was hyped but how is that our fault? He played well and got us in to a position to make the playoffs at a time when we couldnt do anything right. Plus the Asian crowd showed the homie mad love. Its not our fault ESPN gave him 24 hour coverage.

Why do people get so defensive. NY is a great city, I had a blast the times I've been there, but the hype machine is crazy breh. Can a NY lover at least admit to one person or team that is way overhyped due to the NY media. You fill our TVs with it and when they bust, the next NY story nobody is really interested in outside of NY is all over our screens.

Imagine if Roy Jones Jr or Mayweather were from NYC....
