So far every rapper from the beginnings in the 80s to today that have blown up have all been from a major city or some kind of surrounding urban hood near it. So far every rapper that is from an average middle class suburb has never made it so far in their rap careers. Even those rappers who are from suburbs that had made it so far had to claim they are from some nearby city or known hood to get recognition(examples are Ice Cube and Dr. Dre). There isn't much in place for a rapper from a regular small town suburb to make it to be honest.

How are Cube and Dre suburbanites? Cube took an hour bus to go to a white school but he from South Central.

J Cole is from some bumblefukk town and he has a gold album and a current hit single.

Sad to say, but there are more successful rappers from the burbs than from the hood in our current hip hop climate :manny:

By definition, Compton is a LA suburb.... but when people think of the suburbs they think " nice houses, good schools, low crime" type shyt.

Cube from the same hood as WC, but people really acting like he went out of his way to claim Compton for street cred.

But doesn't Drake kill this entire thread?

or is this where people tell us how T Dot is really hood on the low, and that free healthcare and a grand total of 26 homicides is really gangsta?

First and only reply to that thread shut it down with the quickness

Let's face it, you make terrible threads.

sub·urb
/ˈsəbərb/
Noun
An outlying district of a city, esp. a residential one.
Synonyms
outskirts

Not only are there rappers from the suburbs, they are also many rappers from rural areas, especially in the South.

I can tell you don't get out much because suburbs doesn't equal "safe and white". The worst cities in the nation are all suburbs.

Drake is technically from an upper middle class suburb of a Canadian city.

Kanye also grew up upper middle class, although not sure about his neighborhood.

Big KRIT is from some smal town in Mississippi

The Alchemist is from Beverly Hills.

I'm sure there's many more examples, probably mostly in the South.
