another problem thats happening is the "finisher" being done with in the first 5 mins.

When Cena no sold the frog splash I just completely tuned out of that match. That spot that rollins does with the double suplex is completely ridiculous as well. In kayfabe a top rope suplex results in the ref counting to 8 most of the time now motherfukkers are just hoping up like its nothing?

Like someone said earlier blame Taker and HBK for introducing it during their Mania matches., now anytime two main eventers face each other it's their go to move.
Edit: If you want to go even further, you can also blame Steamboat, Savage, and even Meltzer for giving their "kick out fest" at WM 3, five stars. Those two match influences have led to this main event style that fans are complaining about now.

That same event you had both HHH and Orton using both the RKO and Pedigree within the first 5 minutes of the match....HBK/Taker in 09 started that trend, but even then they didn't over do it, it was perfect storytelling. Since then, its been

At least with matches like Austin/Rock at X7 and Taker/HBK they were credibly built as desperate can't lose matches, so kickout fests sorta speak to that.

Someone here recently brought up Scott hall never using razors edge unless he was getting the pin. It made me realize how crucial that should be. Finishers should mean something. When rock kicked out of the leg drop it was a big deal. Finishers need to be protected. Its just lazy agents tbh.

Lets also add the weird trend of throwing 50 super kicks in a match aka the Super Kick Party.... HBK only needed 1 kick to dead you.

Back in the day when someone kicked out of undertaker`s tombstone it was a big deal.
Nowadays it's like you don't even be phased when someone kicks out of a finisher.
I see this a lot in the wrestling business currently in general and it takes away the prestige of finishers.
I would prefer that they do those shock value kick outs with signature moves rather than finishers.
A Finisher is not a finisher if it's being constantly whored out for shock value.

It's OK in CM Punk matches in TSC but despised on Rock/Cena matches. That's the takeaway I got from that issue over the last few years. So that never had merit...just when it was convenient for those to make out for other types.
