The suburbs
Dallas has a world class art scene, Ft. Worth has one of the top rated zoos in the country. There are concerts every weekend, live sporting events, a billion lakes to go do water sports and fishing, and to get to a real casino(not the watered down experience you get in LA) it is less than an hours drive to get to one. I don't know what parks he been too out here, but there's always a bunch of people playing pick up games or soccer, or hell like me and my bros we go to the parks to spar and shyt. Bruh we be doing the same shyt nikkas do everywhere else.
So you think Dallas is as vibrant as la

Even southerners hate sprawl (they act like they don’t BS) which is why the south is building lots of buildings in their downtowns and constantly studying transportation models to get people around the city. What you’re saying means nothing. Traffic and bad urban planning is literally a quality of life issue.
No, we don’t.

The only people who “hate” sprawl are the ones who live in the middle of nowhere and it takes the 20 minutes or more to get everywhere. If you live within 15-20 miles of the city center, it’s not bad at all. Everything I need is within a 5-10 minute drive. The problem is that even the immediate suburbs are getting ridiculously expensive and lower middle class people are getting priced out and ending up on the edge of the suburbs and rural areas. That’s when it’s annoying... but there are rural areas everywhere. Not just the south.

So you’re saying a young person or “active” person in general is having the same type of fun in a place like LA, NYC, Chicago as they are in Alabama and Arkansas?

Here’s the issue here. There are many open minded educated career focused southerners who live in these cities that could answer these questions for you.

These places tend to have more:

Restaurants of all sorts from all over the globe and unique spots in general, More nightlife options, More museums and cultural activities (having a museum experience in Arkansas doesn’t touch the experience you’ll get in Washington DC), More outdoor activities, Much better and populated networks of people from all types of backgrounds and much better looking women of all sorts.

The energy of these cities is rich and not a sleepy town.

The south overall is generally viewed as a place you go to when it’s time to relax and be away from all that energy.

Agreed, I’m from Little Rock and now have lived in two bigger cities (Denver and Phoenix) for the last few years. No lies spoken.

I can drive to Hollywood or Santa Monica on a random day and find activities/places to go that I can do all by myself and have a blast..where in Raleigh can I do that, we use to go to Crabtree mall and triangle to pass time only time I go to mall here is when I genuinely need something not for something to do

That’s the perfect way to explain the difference. People do mundane shyt just to pass the time, not for a purpose. I love being in PHX and being able to also drive to Cali (LA or SD) in under 5 hrs or Vegas under 6 whenever I feel like it. In Little Rock we would drive to Dallas which is about 5.5 hrs or Memphis 2 hrs and that shyt is just like LR just bigger.

Thanks you and one of my former clients is from Little Rock also. She loves her hometown but as a 26 year old she said she had to explore

That’s my take too. I love it back home because it’s my base, but if you want variety in anything (food, culture, business, activities) you have to move around out of state because it’s few and far in between down there.

Even simple ass shyt like the parks down south be wacc as hell

I remember going to parks as a kid right by the rose bowl my uncle would take all of us n we would get some cardio in n just some sports in general. It would literally be thousands of ppl at that park. And that's just Pasadena

I haven't seen nothing like that in Dallas n Dallas is literally the most populated metro in the south

Are you sure that’s not Houston? Point still stands regardless.

What was your initial reaction like when you moved to PHX? I know that had to have been a culture shock to the senses somewhat coming from Little Rock or anywhere east of the Mississippi.

I had already lived in PHX from ‘01-‘05 so I got that out of the way then in the Air Force. I definitely had a hell of a shock moving here back then but by ‘02 I had it figured it out. Moving back was nothing because I know where to go and how to move out here. Other than the desert and Mexican influence it feels like the South in a lot of ways.
