KD was presented as a valid competition to the best player of his era/age (Lebron James), actually he was presented as "having next", which was never the case for neither Barkley or Ewing with regards to MJ.

And Ewing never won an MVP.

So KD is held to higher scrutiny than those two who were HOF players among other HOF players. KD was sold to us as damn near being Lebron's equal. Initially it was media talking all that bs, but then he came out himself and said he was "tired of being number 2", so he put that pressure on himself.
