MJ aside breh and I understand your issues with her in that movie, SM2 is one of the greats. I've got issues with its characterization of my boy and MJ but there's more good than bad in the movie. I don't recall anyone putting Iron Man above it but hey, you probably know something I don't
When Iron Man 1 came out, I thought it was amazing and it kinda put Iron Man in the forefront as far as Marvel heroes because before that movie, he was probably like #7 at best, now he's gotta be top 4 lol.
And Wizard Magazine also rated it as the #1 comic movie of all time around then... of course that was BEFORE TDK and Avengers came out, but both of those movies raised the bar. Does Iron Man lose points because movies after it were even better?
I wasn't reading Wizard anymore at that point so I wasn't even aware of that. It doesn't lose points but I'd rank a couple flicks above it...Dark Knight, Spider-Man 2, Cap 2, and possibly Days of Future Past but that's just how I feel. I love it definitely but those flicks are better to me.
I liked IM1 over Spider-Man 2, but I was not a big fan of Tobey's characterization of Spidey anyway...
That said, all the movies you named came after IM1 except Spidey 2. At that time period, Iron Man 1 was a top 3 comic book movie at the very least and it was NO LESS than an 8/10. Fact is, all these movies have raised the bar because they are ALL great, that's why this comic book movie wave is great for the movie and comic industry and artistry as a whole. And the competition is good because it means no half stepping on either side will be tolerated.
The flicks that I'd rank before it that came before it though: Spidey 2, Batman Begins, the first Superman flick, and that's about it so it's damn high on the list if I'm working backwards. And I agree with you on Tobey..his spidey is
I don't know fam... Blade 1 and 2 were GREAT. I loved X-2 and thought X-Men 1 was a good starting point. Spider-Man 1 was my favorite of that trilogy. Constantine was dope too. But at that time, I'd put Iron Man 1 as my favorite of the group, maybe X-2 up there too but I'm an X-Men fanboy tho

Us long time comic readers can't help ourselves but to jab the opposition a lil. This Comic rivalry between Marvel/DC trumps most rivalry's in anything because its been that way since the companies existed and unlike other fields, their properties ACTUALLY fight each other lol.
Its funny that reminds me of when I saw iron man 3 in theatres.
As I left in disgust of the latest failed c section Marvel had carved out I saw a newborn baby walk out with his father smoking a pipe..he looked deeply perplexed. His father asked him if he enjoyed the film. The dapper baby looked up and said, "so, they take the most iconic iron man villain and replace him with another fellow nerd in a business suit? Marvel isnt even trying to make a good film anymore. Theyre literally just pushing out garbage film after garbage film. Every time they release a movie the bar gets lower and lower. And these mindless drones just eat it, like mother forcing gerber down my throat."
I couldnt help but agree with that baby.

I see the strengths and weaknesses in both companies in every medium. DC has the better characters, but Marvel's comics have had the better writers for years now.
At the end of the day I'm a fan of both. We're getting to eat, bruhs.
