Phil Jackson TOLD him to score. That was our best chance at winning games. We had no other scoring option. Lamar was very inconsistent. Could get you 18 one game and 5 in the other. Smush Parker, Luke etc. They all sucked. Why didn't Kobe come out chucking in 05 then? If he wanted to prove himself, he could have easily won the scoring title that year. At the start of the 07 season Kobe was averaging around 26 a game for the first two months and the Lakers had the 3rd seed, then everyone went down with an injury and Phil instructed Kobe to go back into scoring mode.
