It's amazing how people want things both ways.

Some people want TI in prison for having automatic/sub-automatic weapons.

But in another thread here about the shootings in California, people are claiming that gun control does nothing to save lives or reduce violence. So with that argument out there, why should TI have gone to prison for possessing these weapons?

For the record, I think stricter gun control and background checks is a good idea, but even if you don't...you guys have to be consistent across the board with this shyt.

Everywhere...You never there.
Is T.I. a snitch? I don't know.

But, anyone you doesn't understand Georgia doesn't have mandatory minimums for the charges he faced, doesn't know the justice system.

*sigh*

I just had a flashback arguing this over and over on :hamster:.

TIP was charged federally. That was a FED case, man.

his lawyers probably proved entrapment.

That's pretty much what the FEDS do. I'm not even sure that's a legal argument at the FED level. But the suppression of evidence, improper search & seizure, improper drawing & issuing of warrants, Miranda failures, etc., are a little more plausible...but not entrapment. Not a the FED level.

Money rules the world nikkas.
Its not snitch.
If Gucci had t.i. money bet money he aint in jaiil for that long
hating ass nikkas hating on the king :umad:

FEDs don't care about a damn rapper's money. Shyt is pennies to the FEDs. They do care about money that's tied into systems/organizations (lawful and unlawful), industries, generations...corporations...money that hidden in glaringly plain sight. That talks a little more...

But no, not TIP's own lil' money (no disrespect to what he's earned financially, light years beyond me...but still). Not in such a profile case. Now if the label and/or the industry could have been implicated in some sort of way and/or leveraged their own resources (in one way or another) then that money could talk...

But no....involving a defendant of TIP's publicity/visibility whom already had multiple felonies at the state level, TIPs rapper money ain't talking...

But let's be clear: TIP was implicated by the bodyguard who told ATF he purchased the semi's and fully's for TIP.... TIP was popped while he was still DISCUSSING the guns with the bodyguard (which is Odd, but that's another story)... dunno why the arrest and seizure stopped just short of actual possession. It can be argued whether the guns were on his person. If he woulda driven off with those fully's and semi's, it woulda been a wrap.

This is a Constructive Possession case, not an Actual Possession case in terms of the fully's and semi's. So that makes a HUGE difference in terms of sentencing. The legal document just said "possession" without clarifying, but FEDs rarely clarify in those press releases.

The only guns they found on him (luggage) were two .45s and a rifle, a few pistols and a revolver at his crib... that's regular shyt.

But FEDs apparently found no semi's or fully's at his crib, if they did, trust, TIP woulda been done for.

TI's circle was suspect, and not connected at all. Niccas really need to be looking at that bodyguard, and his ridiculous decisions.

TSG said (and I'm assuming there's FED court documents to back that up, just didn't search for them) the bodyguard went to a licensed dealer and asked where can I get a machine gun without registering it... Who the fukk does that?! Mind you he's buying these guns at licensed dealers in ATL's suburbs... Allegedly, one of the dealers gave him an ATF's agents number after the bodyguard's inquiry... :snoop:

Any nicca that connected outchea would not be going to licensed dealers asking where to buy semi's and fully's w/o registering.

Also, TIP didn't even know what the fukk he was looking at when the bodyguard showed him them machine guns in the duffel. He's commenting on the silencers... not the guns. He's asking, "Anything I need to know?" Nicca you buying heavy duty machinery, you supposed to know and ask pointed questions... Think about that.

Some of the paperwork is online. It's public record for the most part. Now whether some documents/statements have been suppressed or sealed is another matter. And I think some have been... Many times there is mention of it in the public paperwork. It will say something is sealed. You'll see redaction in the documents. Sometimes redaction could mean anything from protecting a Government C.I. or the defendant's C.I. status to concealing names of folks whom haven't been indicted/charged/convicted, yet, amid an ongoing FED probe.

From what's available publicly (press release), there is NO mention of TIP cooperating with the FEDs in an informant capacity in exchange for a lighter sentence. And that is all we know based on the evidence that's available. So it is dangerous, and contradicts the paperwork that's available to label TIP as a snitch.

IF anybody has access to PACER, you can search the online records of TIPS case. Or you can go to the Georgia Northern District he was sentenced in and use their computer. You still won't be able to see a sealed document. It won't have a clickable link and it'll say "SEALED."

But we all know, the agreement reached in the TIP weapons case is unusual and atypical for the average joe considering all of the factors, namely that it's a FED case... But again, what they actually found TIP in Actual possession of weren't weapons of mass destruction...just basic shyt. FEDs really care about choppas, fully's, semi's, big hitta shyt...

If anything, TIP benefited more from the machine behind him (his label, possibly the industry) and their resources, good lawyers and very fortunate situation that the raid of his home didn't lead to ATF finding machine guns there... moreso than his own money.

Again, if he had fully and semi's at the crib, it woulda been over for him.
And if he woulda been allowed to drive off with those fully's and semi's, it woulda been a wrap.

It's just a curious case. And if I were in the industry, and not a big wig, I'd be leery of getting too close to TIP or his people on a close, personal level if I hadn't known him for most of my life.

If anything, this just shows TIP was severely misguided, and whatever "street" sense he gained was thrown out the window... also it shows he's not connected at all with a street level gun racket. And his bodyguard, whether TIP knew it or not, made a rookie mistake that reeks of naivete.

TIP was charged federally. That was a FED case, man.

Two words; good great incredible lawyers.

You're right, it was a fed case, but, my point still stands.

A Northern Georgia District judge sentenced [artist id="1225081"]T.I.[/artist] to one year and one day in prison on Friday (March 27) for felony weapons charges stemming from his October 2007 arrest on the eve of the BET Hip-Hop Awards, calling the rapper’s plea deal “experimental” but a phenomenal success.

Judge Charles Pannell Jr. told the rapper he had more than exceeded the court’s expectations, and he hoped his case would inspire similar plea deals.

“I’m resistant to the lockup mentality,” Judge Pannell told the courtroom. “I hope this sentencing leads to other experiments that will protect the community and show a respect for the law.”

Under the plea deal, T.I. (real name: Clifford Harris) must submit to a number of rigorous requirements after his release from prison. The rapper will be subjected to an audit of his finances, drug counseling, DNA testing and random searches of his property, and he will not be able to own firearms. He will also be under home confinement after his release under the same pre-trial conditions, which included a curfew, permission-only travel and a court-appointed supervisor.

A number of supporters spoke before the judge on behalf of T.I.’s legal team. Bishop Eddie Long said T.I. “deeply impressed” him, citing the rapper’s moving Easter speech delivered to 30,000 of Long’s supporters in Atlanta. Former U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young said he was asked to “help” the rapper by a mutual acquaintance, but that T.I. helped him more than he could ever help the rapper. Young recalled meeting a young Tupac Shakur and how the late rapper agreed to meet the church activist in Atlanta to work together. “Unfortunately, he never made it, due to his death,” Young said, hoping the judge would spare T.I. so he could continue to help children in Atlanta.

He mustve had ppl in high places and made deals with "community leaders" if they'll vouch for him.

Will Smith was tryna get him off.

Will Smith Tried To Get T.I. A Presidential Pardon

The law game is politics, ya'll. T.I. ain't no dude workin' corners. His record label put you $3 million bail, for him.

I can't find a link, anymore, about there being no mandatory minimum, but, what I posted was enough.

Still, I understand ppl not gettin' it.

Dude got entrapped brehs :damn:

It's not entrapment because he was already in possession of illegal firearms prior to the Sting...:camby:

"During the Sting operation TI was sold 3 machine guns, 2 silencers when he got arrested. Police searched his car and found 3 more unregistered guns and a 1/2 pound of weed. Then police searched his house and found 6 more weapons he was charged w/ possesion of unregistered machine guns and silencers, and possesion of firearms by a convicted felon. Trail.
