Let's revisit the TNA Monday Night "War"

I was initially excited by it.

Nash & hall was back on TV. Hogan even wrestled.

I remember Bret hart coming back after so many years.

I always felt like Vince kept tabs on TNA back then(when the company had real potential).

TNA had the talent & enough household names to be solid, but they wanted to be wcw 0.2 version.

Wwe won the "war"

There was a lot of skepticism about Hogan, but also a lot of buzz. The first show did TNAs highest rating ever, and I think their first hour did a 1.8.

TNAs 1/4 show wasnt THAT bad imo. It had AJ vs Angle for the world title. The first few months of the Hogan era were OK, things didn't get that bad til the regular weekly live show.

I cant say Hogan killed TNA when it hadnt been consistently good since 3 years before Hogan came in.

Bret and Shawn on the other channel was the better segment that first night.

Pretty much. Imagine if they would have pulled the trigger during the 2005-09 years. Kurt Angle arriving to the Impact Zone and that friggin pop.

Still wouldn't have done anything.

TNA was never viable enough to go against Raw head to head and not fukk themselves, not set themselves for big picture failure, at any point in its existence.

Paul Heyman had the best plan for TNA but Dixie was too stupid to take heed. Clean out the indies before WWE started NXT and chop the head off of everyone over 40.

They messed up by trying to trot out hulk Hogan in 2010 like it was 1990 or something.

That night they shoulda came out the gate running with young talent. Give ppl a reason to invest in the product.

Like someone is gonna watch and be like "oh sht, 50+ yr old hulk hogan is there...let me tune in!"

There was a point where the crowd chanted TNA during a Raw segment (Trump/O Donnell). Then again, I would rather watch TNA fukkery over that segment to be honest

There was interest there when Hogan went and there was interest in them moving to Monday nights. They didn't have their best roster by that point tho and even then they completely failed on the initial episodes to keep viewers watching. They had a small chance to do something and they squandered it big time.
