a few points...
1) this current team wouldn't be able to use a traditional PG a lot of times because Magic would bust their ass and it would be a complete mismatch
2) NO ONE on this year's current team would have an answer for a prime MJ... Neither Kobe or Wade are in their prime as defenders. Wade is better than Kobe, but he's a better off the ball defender than he is on the ball.
3) Dwight would have to respect Ewing and D.Rob's jumper, so that would draw him away from the paint. That means 1) Magic would be able to post up the smaller PG's on this year's team without having to worry about Dwight's help from the weak side and 2) MJ would do whatever the fukk he wanted to with the lane essentially open
if you have a line up of:
Rose
Kobe
Lebron
Durant
Dwight
Who handles the ball? All those guys are used to having the ball in their hands. Lebron is a playmaker and isn't nearly as effective without the ball. Kobe is a ball stopper. Durant can be effective off the ball, but he's much more effective when you just give it to him and get out of the way. Rose's off the ball game is non-existant. Dwight's offensive game would be even more limited than it is with a guy like D. Rob on him.
People always throw out each team's best starting 5 without thinking about how they'd play with one another or looking at the matchups

Agreed...people keep mentioning the HOFers that were on that roster like everyone you mentioned doesnt have a legit shot...Ewing was a notorious choker at the pro level...Magic was a terrible one on one defender...I would let Kobe guard him and put LeBron on MJ...they would counter with Pippen on KD, who would shoot right over him...Now you have Wade v Stockton
and Dwight v Drob...I'd give the nod to DRob

Melo on Barkley/Malone. Melo plays no D but, the Dream Team is too big for us to play small. Melo is just as tall & strong as either. No clear advantage.

If they put Stockton in instead of Magic, I'd rotate Dwill in to Stockton, Melo out, Bron on Barkley/Malone & KD on Pippen. Will Ewing & Robinson murder Chandler? Definitely But LeBron will do the same to an old azz Magic. Jordan is the GOAT but, the advantage he'd have over Kobe isn't as large as the two above. This shyt is a game
