Harlem world went 4 times platinum and had 3 top ten hits. Double up did 350,000 the first week and went gold but he famously retired

Let’s say he doesn’t call it quits promotes double up its entire run and continues, how much longer do you think he could’ve been relevant. Like in 2006 would we care about Mase?

Also Mase aint stable he too iffy to really have consistent domination in a volatile competitive hip hop scene such as NY.

Can you see Mase going toe to toe with 98' Double Plat X? Blueprint Hov? Peak Pop sensation Ja? Prime 50? Dipset?

You would have to be a cold motherfukka in order to compete against those NY titans back to back.

When Mase initially retired he had just dropped a seriously lackluster 2nd album, artists like DMX, The Lox, Jay, Pun and Fab were making much more waves than him in the streets and alot people looked at him as corny because of some well publicized Ls. His sophomore album was not going to be big regardless. I still think he bounces back with a third album in maybe 2001/2002. Mase somehow had an ear for what was next. He was the first rapper to have a Neptunes beat and that was one of his biggest songs ("Lookin At Me"). He was also one of the first to give Just Blaze and Kanye placements. He was also one of the first to work with Southern MC's.

Mase drops an album 2001-2002 with production by The Neptunes, Just Blaze, and Kanye then he's easily platinum.
