Do you man. Keep hating I guess. What if you tried your cock blocking routine with a employee you thought was dumb and the company still went with the other person for the promotion do you become the dumb one or did the company just not see your genius? How would that effect your sanity?

I simply look for another job :yeshrug: if you're confident in your work and you feel like you deserve more or feel underappreciated take your talents elsewhere. I've also done this before. I understand not everyone is able to do that especially in the current climate but that's just how I see it.

So just job hop? Most Gen-Z and Millennials job hop whenever they feel slighted. You not doing anything outside the norm.

Wait until you land that new position at a different company and find out it's people you don't like there too. Just keep job hopping and hating seem like a recipe for disaster.

You have to be quiet. You're not supposed to know how much a colleague makes. Someone in HR or finance fukked up making that info public. Which you would then be asked how you got the info and either snitch or your job is in jeopardy anyway.
You have to lobby for more money on your own merits.
That’s actually not true it isn’t against the rules

I'm not Gen Z, I'm Gen Flabby. Job hopping is totally different, I feel like those people who constantly job hop don't spend enough time on a job to actually know anything.

By comfortable, you essentially make enough to afford everything you want. If you have a family, same applies. You’re far from struggling. Now let’s say you learn some information that’s supposed to be confidential and you find out an irresponsible idiot you don’t like is making twice as much as you. Do you stay quiet knowing you have a good job that pays more than enough? Do you speak up because you feel you deserve more? Mind you, if you speak up, you take the risk of being labeled a “troublemaker” and they may find a reason to get rid of you. On the flip side though, speaking up could force their hand to pay you more than the idiot. It’s a 50:50 chance though.

What would you do?
I have never once joined an organization or taken a job to be an activist. So no, im going to go to work and then go home.

If i didnt like the conditions of my employment, then i wouldnt have taken the job in the first place. Its functionally irrelevant to me what others are making if my own needs are met at the amount i agreed to earn when i accepted the job offer.

Say nothing.
Let him cook.
Don't ever consume the food at the potluck.
Do my job.
Look for ways to get him in trouble.
If he fukks up, look to try and get him fired.
If he gets fired, try and claim his job
Negotiate my pay to be as much if not more than his, if possible.
Eitherway, get a pay bump and dap him up in the street if I ever see him and ask how he's doing while not giving a fukk.
Nod and smile.

Do you mayne. Right now IMO is not the time to job hop if your already living comfortable. Esepcially being older. A lot of older workers are complaining about the job market now.

I think accepting the fact that there will be "idiots" and people you don't like who will always make more than you but there's also more accomplished people than you for whatever reason can't get ahead or might not make as much whether that's due to factors outside of their control like health issues, family issues, etc.

There is only one circumstance in which I might speak up—and it wouldn’t be about someone’s pay. If that person’s actions threaten the company’s solvency, and by extension my own stability, then I would speak up about those actions specifically.

As for discovering that someone earns twice what I do, I’d follow the approach another suggested: I’d simply request a raise that reflects how I value my contributions to the company, backing it with a clear record of what I’ve done to merit that increase.

I agree with you. Right now is the time to stick with whatever you have.. But always be prepared for layoffs.

You're always going to work with people you don't care for. I'm not talking about bouncing because someone is annoying but if you feel like you can't advance any further then by all means start looking.
