Let's Strategize: Iran Sanctions Lifted. What Does The USA Do Next?

Why does the US have to do anything? Why were the sanctions in place at all? Why does was an Iran deal even needed?

Because Iran caused a lot of trouble around the world despite what RT tells you.

I agree that "the less nuclear weapons in the world the better". I don't think any country should have nuclear weapons. My point is that the reasons for placing sanctions on Iran and subsequently having to make an "Iran deal" are dubious, and most discussions around this topic fail to address this. The actual "Iranian threat" as described by US intelligence is insignificant. I've posted the documents on here before, but the analysis from US intelligence on the issue is that if Iran did get nuclear weapons they would be only used as a deterrent, not for carrying out any offensive actions. So what serious threat is posed? If the US was serious about nuclear non-proliferation they wouldn't have supported Pakistan as they developed their nuclear systems. If they're serious, they can start working on an "Israel deal".

The threat is that they have them at all and it takes power away from people the US already has interests with.

This basically creates a chain of nuclear countries going from Russia, China, India, Pakistan, and Israel LINKED via Iran.

That shyt is super problematic.

Not to mention, Iran has also developed and has researched missile technology...aka...delivery options

And WE DID NOT SUPPORT PAKISTAN. They stole their nuclear plans via AQ Khan. I suggest you read up on his story. He was a pakistani metallurgist who stole plans from a european nuclear plant during india's war with pakistan and developed the pakistani nuclear program. He also sold plans to North Korea and Iran. This is all documented.

Pakistan only has support because they're belligerent with India and hold the world hostage by threatening to cause incursions into india via their nuclear options.

Oh I most certainly agree that the danger of a nuclear Iran is greatly exaggerated, especially by Israel. But still, as someone who is all for nuclear non-proliferation, I think such framework of carrots and sticks work pretty well to achieve that.
Of course there is hypocrisy and doube standards involved in those decisions, but in this particularly case it got good results, so fukk it, I'm fine with it.
