help, I don't understand De La Soul at all - ProjectCOVO.com Global Forum

I can't overstate how much of a that album was for me

De La Soul is the definition of acquired taste. It's like their music only appeals to some when it comes to their entire albums. My dad gave me 3 feet High too but the second spin it broke They have some songs but I dont like them as much.

The Love Movement wasn't better than Beats Rhymes & Life

too many heads hated on the latter for not having "the tribe sound", or "not being Midnight Marauders or Low End Theory" and Consequence getting shine. Whole album was fire IMO, I can play the whole thing through without skipping

I will never get the heads that thought that album and De La's Stakes is High were not good releases.

I'm a big fan of De La Soul is Dead, but I think of the cassette version. the CD version does have some weird tracks

I thought Low End was leagues above People. I just don't like how that was more of a solo album than it was an ATCQ album, especially compared to the other albums they made

Can't be mad at this. Butter was a great song on an album loaded with dope songs. Honestly there's not much difference for the number one spot for all three of their first albums. All three albums had two classic singles each. For me it's real close, but Low End Theory did not require a fast forward button. A true classic. The whole jazz + rap thing was perfect on this album.
