Code Geass is a fundamentally bad anime that still manages to entertain. it doesn't take itself too seriously and its all about throwing as many mindless plot twist as possible at the viewer so there's always something to catch their eye.

really if you wanna see what Code Geass could have been watch Guilty Crown. it was written by the same team and borrows the majority of the core plot elements and characters from Code Geass but it makes Code Geass look like a Studio Ghibli film in comparison.

watching Guilty Crown made me realize the only saving grace of Code Geass is LeLouch. He's a great character and he carries that series through its highs and lows. basically he is that series like Light is Death Note. i mean honestly most anime have shytty main characters. most male protagonist are either wimps or perverts and soft as shyt. if you put a conventional anime lead at the head of Code Geass it would be borderline unwatchable. i literally had to force myself to Finish Guilty Crown because it's basically Code Geass with a conventional anime lead wimp.

i really like code geass one of my fav anime and damn i forgot bout guilty crown now that show was :leon: he was a wimp but he changed over time too though :manny:

You gon have to explain this one to a breh :patrice:

What exactly were they trying to do, and how is it any different than lelouch's original plan of world domination (he only went the good guy route AFTER the purgatory saga imo :manny: )

I'm on my phone so I can't be bothered to go into detail but they were trying to make their own singularity, breh.

One of the dumbest anime series of all time that represents pretty much everything wrong that could be wrong with modern anime today.

An interesting premise completely deluded because the creators wanted to appeal to everyone so the style is all over the place, important plot points thrown away with three second explanations while dedicating an entire episode to Lelouch chasing a cat, mecha-battles that always, always, came down to someone pulling a Deus Ex Machina out of their ass and taking out the other party, only to have the next episode revealing a new Deus Ex Machina which gets taken out with a Deus Ex Machina that guess what, faces another Deus Ex Machina.

While the first season was kind of focused and actually pretty decent, the second season was just a gigantic clusterfukk of utter stupidity that's only watchable because of how hilariously bad it is. The scene where Lelouch outsmarts his brother by pre-recording a five minute video where he not only perfectly predicted what his brother would respond but also nailed the exact timing is one of the most laughable examples of lazy writing I've ever seen. And yet it is so very, very sad to see people use that scene as an example of how smart Lelouch is supposed to be.

Let me spread some rep before I neg you again

i like Bleach but its also a fundamentally bad work. still one of my favorite series mainly because there are certain characters i really enjoy. something doesn't have to be a high quality intelligently put together and well thought out work to be entertaining.

i liked Code Geass and enjoyed both seasons. its a very entertaining anime but its one of those series you should turn your brain off and just accept what you see and enjoy it for what it is cause once you start analyzing it the plot is paper thin and many of the characters act like idiots, never evolve past their tropes, and the plot is borderline nonesense.

i feel the same way. rolo was that dude
what we got for the second season wasn't Code Geass R2's original plan. when they lost their timeslot executive meddling forced them to change a lot of the plot of R@. it was originally gonna be darker and more mature but they got a kiddy timeslot and it was compromised. i think Rolo was a character inserted as a middle finger to those executives.
Rolo isn’t in it. No time skip. Slower pace. First half is scratched.

Lelouch wins the duel against Suzaku most likely due to Kallen's intervention. Suzaku develops a relationship with Cecil (probably romantic). Suzaku’s link to Geass is explained and the reason for his inhuman strength is also revealed. C.C.’s past is dealt with in greater details. Later, Jeremiah’s sister reveals herself and as she is a Lelouch lookalike, she takes control of the Black Knights and removes her mask, revealing her identity while claiming to be Zero after which Lelouch is forced to join as a recruit and gets picked on by Tomaki. I'm assuming that since events are changed Jeremiah isn't Lelouch's loyal servant and as such most likely joins the rebellion and plots against Lelouch to overthrow him with his sister (with his hatred of Zero still burning, though that also implies that the core reasons behind Jeremiah's character [His past with Marianne] also changes but I can see it having been skewed that way at first), with Kallen probably helping considering the revelation of season 1 have shocked her and her loyalties would be uncertain. I don't see her wanting to kill Lelouch but she might help dethrone him to remove him from the command of the Black Knights she values so much if his life is spared. Kallen’s father returns and either plays an active role in the conflict or serves to explore Kallen’s issues and past. Kallen’s brother is revealed to be alive and returns to add to the Kallen sub-plot and most likely joining the Black Knights. Lelouch must either lose to Jeremiah's sister or an event triggers him to act impulsive considering what happens next. After leaving the Black Knights Lelouch puts a plan into motion to confront Charles but loses and is imprisoned in Britannia. He later escapes and most likely kills Charles and later runs in an election against his brother Schneizel to decide who should run Britannia. After presumably winning against his brother, Lelouch becomes ruler of Britannia and enacts the Zero Requiem. Lelouch is still dead at the end.

Let's be honest. Suzaku and Itachi are damn near the same in terms of characters motivations, the only reason why Itachi is popular is because of his "mysterious aloof older brother" image, take that all away and you have Suzaku. Suzaku is a often Misunderstood character because he isn't the focus of the series, but if anything his character is consistent and does make sense when you actually take the time to think about his actions.

Hell, Itachi's ring character is Suzaku. I read a theory somewhere that Schneizel is actually supposed to be an light yagami expy instead of Lelouch who is always compared to him, it made a whole lot of sense.

Rolo was definitely suspect, he was like a bitter clingy jealous girlfriend. I think Schneizel was definitely suspect too. My favorite character would have to be the emperor. His speech game was :whew: He remind me of Tywin Lannister. He was above these mortals and their silly wars. Constantly spitting ether.

Li Xingke is probably my next favorite character, despite his pedo-ish tendencies, he was putting in work, unfortunately they didn't give my man that much screentime.

Aria
Princess Tutu
Planetes
Fuujin Monogatari
Aku No Hana

Fun fact: Planetes was actually the first time Code Geass creators Taniguchi and Okouchi worked together.
