Playoff career averages-

Dirk- 25.4 ppg 10.2 Rebs 0.9 blks 2.5 ast 1.1 stl
KG- 18.2 ppg 10.7 Rebs 1.3 blks 3.3 ast 1.2 stl

Looks like only one stat is "Not even particularly close"...in the playoffs when the superstars step their game up which player you taking to lead your team?:patrice:

Someone looking funny when the light get bright:patrice:

You know what looks funny in the light? The "reasoning" some of you are putting out. There's no question that KG fell off a cliff in terms of productivity about 3 seasons ago. Dirk has maintained a high level of play. But if we're comparing Prime KG to Prime Dirk, why are you including stats from after their primes?

I still find it funny that KG is still ripped for losing in the playoffs to SUPERIOR teams while Dirk gets a pass for losing to inferior teams. I also find it funny that everybody brings up Dirk v. KG in a single playoff matchup that lasted 3 games, but nobody mentions the fact CHris Webber's Kings beat Dirk that year and the next year. Nobody is saying Webber > Dirk? Might have something to do with the fact Webber had a better team?

I swear to god no other player on the planet got as much boost from one title run as Dirk Nowitzki did. And anybody who says he was a one man show and all of that clearly didn't actually WATCH those playoffs.

And he lost to an 8th seed warriors team

Dirk was underrated and unfairly criticized until that run, honestly. Then in 2011, he went on a remarkable run where he beat the Lakers and the Lebron Heat, so certain people want to lionize the whole thing out of proportion.

I've always liked Dirk as a player, and I felt bad for him when the GOAT Baron and crew ran a layup drill on him. Of course, if Dirk ever played defense that you'd expect from a 7-footer, maybe the series would have been competitive :JJ:

49ers..Braves..Celtics
Bruh its no where near close.
Dirk beat the 2 time defending champs, OKC with Durant, Westbrook and Harden, then beat the Miami heat with Bron, wade and bosh all in one post season to win his ring.
Only ring KG won was when we went to boston for a super team and didnt even win finals MVP.

What does it matter whether he won MVP of a blowout series? He led the team in win shares that year and he led them in the playoffs in win shares also. He was 20-10 throughout that playoff run. Whether he had great teammates or whatever there is no question that he was the best player on the team all year long and in the playoffs. :manny:

When someone says "Oh KG had to ride Pierce and Allen to get a title" it's not true. He was the best player on the team. He led them to that title. It's not even a debate. Pierce was the #2 and Allen was the #3.

By their logic,

Iggy is better that Steph Curry
Tony Parker is better than Timmy
Billups better than Dirk because the 04 Pistons team don't have superstars neither and that team went on to multiple ECF trips. :manny:

:yeshrug: kg got put into a situation where he couldnt just hog the ball and average a bunch of points when he got to the celtics, they played as a team and pierce was the best scorer on the court honestly, so it made since to play through him a lil more on offense and let kg still do his thang and dominate on d.

and probably over 70% of his playoff games came while he was a celtic, and as a celtic they was winning so it was no need for him to switch up and become this selfish scorer if it was working the other way
Why ain't he dominating Dirk on the boards or in blocked shots then?

He should focus on something else since he didn't have to focus on scoring.
Folks telling me he better then Dirk at everything besides scoring, but numbers telling a different story... Dirk right up there with him

So Duncan is trash now? Both Duncan's and Dirks game age quite well. They never relied on Athleticism like that. I predict Curry will be the same way.

Think curry's size will hurt him. His jumper will always be A1 but quicker, faster, more athletic pgs will be able to stay in he face once he loses a couple steps
