That edge, Durant said, is part of the reason he was uncharacteristically whistled for 12 technical fouls last season — matching his combined total from his five previous seasons.

"So I'm not going to let that overtake my mind,” said Durant of his championship chase. “I mean, of course I want to win it, but I'm not obsessed with it. I'm going to put in the work to help my team, but I'm not going to be obsessed with it because that's when I compromise myself, and most of the time it doesn't work out.”

Westbrook is the heart of the team, but the media makes him out to be a problem with the synergy. Dude doesn't take plays off and he hates losing. Durant just has a whole demeanor about himself. The West is too good this year and being passive about winning won't help them

What has his former character ever done for him as a leader ? We know what he was saying, but his competition sounds like they really want it more. He has the attitude of a nikka that already won something and he plays like it too.

Um, Bron DID say something similar to this after he lost to Dallas in 2010. Said he got too obsessed in proving the haters wrong after the Decision and was more intense.

Let's be real here, the Thunder are in that dangerous area where they had their shot in the sun, failed for whatever reason and now everything will slowly trickle downwards from here. The past 2 years they were a contender for the West....this year they're no more than a 5th seed IMO

That "edge" - I believe - is needed. To reach greatness you can't be worried about being everybody's friend and trying to be a nice guy and shyt. There's a reason that most of the people you see reach the upper echelon of success are so antisocial and are a$$holes to teammates/refs/opponents (Mike, Kobe, Shaq, Bird, Isiah, etc., etc.), etc.; somebody with the personality like LeBron winning seems to be a rarity.
