The US military budget is more than the next 25-30 countries COMBINED. You think people owning shotguns is gonna protect them from a tank or a drone strike? :sheit:

We live in houses and apartments, not the sides of cliffs like Afghanistan. There would be no need for ground troops if a battle ever broke out in this country.

No you wouldn't be wrong. And I wouldn't have a problem with you having a weapon. But again tazers, pepper spray, rubber bullets, etc, are just as effective in protecting you.

Yet the people of Iraq lived in apartments and homes and we still send in ground troops. The quotes about bearing arms against the govt are as a last case situation. The main argument here is that guns are necessary in this day and age to protect yourself and your family.

I'm from an upper class city and have had a gun pointed at my head twice and had my house broken into. A gun would have helped me out a lot in either situation.

And I agree most gun crime is money related rather than violence. But if I had a gun to fight back with, do you think those same people would come at me to get my money?

I'm not tap dancing. I offered effective non lethal solutions and you said you you'd rather just kill some one. The truth is most people breaking in your house to steal your tv don't have a gun anyway. If they have a couple hundred $ to buy and maintain a gun, they don't need to steal your tv to sell it for a hundred $

You want your gun so you can kill any muthufukka that bothers you, cause you feel they deserve it, not so you can protect you family.

You are the problem with this country and world today. All you think of is the SHORT TERM. Just because I have nothing to fear from my government TODAY does not mean it will be the case in 15 years. It is a LAST CASE situation to use guns against ones own government. Again, just because everything is all good right now doesn't mean it will be the case in the future. Its called being prepared. Its called owning ones own life and the safety and security of it. I don't depend on anyone but myself for my protection. If you have the govt protecting you, great. We will see how you feel when they come after you for something you disagree with.

WHY are you so paranoid though?

Had someone break in my home in south Trenton Nj stole laptops playstation and cash while me and my family was there. Guess what i didnt have my gun at the time. Best believe the story would have went different. Ive had cars stolen and been held up at gunpoint with a hunting rifle right next to Mcdonalds.

Bottomline....Guns are a necessity for the protection of human beings despite the craziness that goes on over guns

I think it's crazy to pinpoint any one reason for all this violence and senceless killing. Would tougher gun laws help? Perhaps. No one knows for sure. I respect most of yalls opinions, but I don't respect some of you who think you have all the answers....no doubts about it. This is a much larger problem than simply toughening gun laws can stop.

This is true. You'd also have to go against the gun lobby. Spending more money on jails than on schools is an issue, general education and support systems for the the people living in difficult conditions would also be necessary, as to provide a valid alternative. Problem is, most of these things are labelled "socialist" or "communist", so probably won't happen.
