Thank you for understanding, that was my whole point, and I'm all for legislation that limits access to guns for specific persons, I just don't think it's something that can be gotten rid of.

I'm from Jersey by the way and it's a bytch and a half to get a registered gun, you need a ton of paperwork approval, and some classes. Its damn near impossible to get one, thats why most of us head to Philly where it can be bought like candy off the street.

ofcourse i understand your point of protecting your fam
im saying there are alternatives to protecting your fam
as well as you gotta realize alot of dudes are out here on an ego trip when they buy a gun.

most people's reasoning when buyin a gun has nothing to do with protecting their family and home
its too easy to get a gun in places like Detroit and New Jersey.
think about this shyt happened in the suburbs of CT

most guns crimes in NJ and Detroit stem from economical reasons
drug dealers buy guns not to hurt people. to protect someone takin they money.

somebody brake in yo house witta gun to take money or possesions that cost money.doesnt make them a violent person neccessarily

its all in they mind. they think they need a gun when really tey dont
people buy guns because in they mind its a way of protection when its not

not sayin you personally

but how many dudes out here sayin the same exact thing you sayin?
but dont even have a fam or home to protect?
or these people are crazy out here so i gotta protect myself

imo if you a guy who handle his own a gun wont make or break you

but we gotta watch out for the cowards who can just walk in and buy crazy guns n the name of "protecting" theyselves

but never been in any danger in they life.

"Please Federal Government, we don't feel safe because of terrorists, help us feel safe again"

FED: Here you go Patriot Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FED: Here's more: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It always starts with something simple. Something we all think we want for safety. It never ends up how we originally thought it would be. Little by little, we lose rights without noticing. By the time we notice, it is too late. Short term thinking like a lot of people in this thread advocate with banning guns because of mass shootings may have very detrimental effects on us in the long term.

Care to explain how either of these acts have directly affected you?

The difference between Terrorists and gun violence is astonishing. Peanuts kill more American's than terrorists. Gun Violence is something that we need to reduce. It's a REAL threat. More people are dying in chicago from guns than people in Iraq... Come the fukk on

Well, despite all the hate that Enlightenment Era political philosophy gets on here, these people actually foresaw these things.

The people in here will act like the PATRIOT Act and NDAA don't exist. They will label you paranoid and keep moving.

That's exactly what the problem is strict gun laws in jersy mean nothing if you can just drive to Philly and buy one from Walmart. Like i said I don't advocate an outright ban but saying "I need my guns for protection" is not a good justification for leaving the laws how they are.

i agreed that the laws need adjustment,

not sure if guns are in Philly walmarts but you can get them from teenagers on the corner.

so whats the solution for you then.

Nationwide Ban on guns on a Federal and State level?

also guns can be manufactured by private persons if they know what they're doing, banning guns would produce more homemade guns and weapons as well.

Everyone is capable of violence, you just have to be put in the right condition to commit such.. If someone is "breaking" into your home then chances are they are in such a condition

outside of that I basically agree with this entire post.

If you already have a gun pointed at your head there's not much you can do. Pro-gun people are here to protect and PREVENT the situation from arising in the first place.

that's the point though even if you had a gun in that scenario you are fukked and have only a few options. realistically you may not hear the person enter your house until it's too late and the intruder already have the drop on you laying in the bed. which was basically what meach asked.

having a gun doesn't mean you get wolverine and spiderman super senses. if you are caught unaware then even with a gun your situation is dire.

If you're caught in this situation then any weapon is irrelevant. Taser, rubber bullets, etc. This is a situation where you cannot do anything to protect yourself. What I'm saying is if a situation arises where I can do something to protect myself, I would be very thankful that I had a gun nearby to do just that, protect myself.
