EDIT: IRRELEVANT AS IN WHEN YOU ARE DISUCUSSING THE BEST OUT
First off, no this is not Napoleon

I've been a big supporter of this guy but let's face the facts people...he just can't keep up with Drake or Kendrick :yeshrug:

I wanted to see this guy do well but he's an idiot and that's never gonna happen.

Drake and Kendrick are out here dropping better albums, going platinum, and getting GQ covers while this nikka is out here selling his soul making songs like Crooked Smile tryna be Tupac Junior yet still failing to get accolades from it.

Drake is the head of the mainstream side of hip-hop while Kendrick is the head of the "real rap" side and J. Cole is in the middle. Not enough for either side.

Why listen to his love songs when Drake does it better? Why listen to his "lyrical songs" when Kendrick does it better? Why listen to his beats when they're trash? It's hard for me to find a reason to listen to one of my former favorite artists in 2013 when I can find someone doing it better than him :sadcam:

Unless he makes some serious changes musically and starts giving a shyt between now and his next project, he's gonna get wiped out :wow:

l ain't exactly a fan of Cole, but I had my wife's truck for most of the weekend (no system)so I had the radio playing the whole time and heard his single (dont know the name) at least 10 times throughout the weekend. With that said, how is he irrelevant?

Trenchcoat flow, bottom line
To these too cool for school nikkas I'm Columbine
Flow dumber than your projections
This makes twice now, I doubled what you expected, yet
Your covers keep perplexin' me
Maybe it's too complex for me
But is this 'bout skills or is this 'bout sales?
Cause either fukkin' way, man all them nikkas is less to me

Did he not just drop an album the same day as Kanye and outsell him?:what: U nikkas have a serious case of ADHD..

And who cares if hes not as popular as Drake or Kendrick right now, its not about how you start its about how you finish.. Kanye wasnt as popular as 50 Cent for his first 2 albums and you see how that turned out. Id rather have a steady fanbase like J Cole whos gonna always support my shyt and get me a gold album at least rather than a bunch of bandwagoners like 80% of Drakes fanbase who will end up turning on him when the next big thing pops up leaving him Nelly status

If you're trying to say he's 3rd in the race behind Kendrick and Drake, then you're right, but in no way is he fading into irrelevancy, especially since he has one of the most loyal fan bases out of any rapper, a fan base that helped him outsell Kanye, and one that will continue to keep him afloat.

so because he's not as popular as Drake and KDot, he's irrelevant? The fukk is wrong with some of y'all logic? How many rappers actually went gold this year. In less than 2 months at that.
Maybe I should have said irrelevant when it comes to discussing best rappers and that type of stuff. Sure he will still sell albums and still go gold (not plat) but as each album drops he's knocking himself out further and further from being called the best rapper or even a great rapper.

Why didn't he release She Knows? That sounds like a hit. Plus he released a stupid video for Crooked Smile, late too. smh

Dude isn't Eminem, he can't afford to disappear for a year before releasing a new album.
In the 5 months the album has been out he has only released TWO singles. :mindblown:

If you're trying to say he's 3rd in the race behind Kendrick & Drake, then you're right, but he's not fading into irrelevancy and his fan base is loyal enough to keep him afloat
Remember on Control when Kendrick said he was gonna take nikkas fans? That shyt is happening and has been happening to mainly J. Cole. I've seen the switch over the last couple of years tbh

This is completely false. While he doesn't dominate headlines like Drake and Kendrick, Cole is as far from irrevelvent as a rapper can get in today's market.

Dude has sold well past gold with both albums and has platinum singles. He tours and whenever he drops new material it gets coverage and exposure. He has a loyal fanbase that's actually willing to support his work and not just talk shyt on internet forums.

Bottom line a lot of rappers would kill to be as "irrelevent" as j.cole right now.
