This is completely false. While he doesn't dominate headlines like Drake and Kendrick, Cole is as far from irrevelvent as a rapper can get in today's market.

Dude has sold well past gold with both albums and has platinum singles. He tours and whenever he drops new material it gets coverage and exposure. He has a loyal fanbase that's actually willing to support his work and not just talk shyt on internet forums.

Bottom line a lot of rappers would kill to be as "irrelevent" as j.cole right now.
scroll up to my other post. i corrected myself as per what i meant by irrelevant

JCole has never been a MC's MC. He is a solid rapper mostly based on content, but he never was a spitter like that, and didnt know anyone had dude in there 'illest' in the game list. He is an above average rapper, with good content, that gets very personal on records, and tries to represent himself instead of a typical image.

As far as relevance goes, you cant be considered irrelevant if you got 2 songs on the charts and both of them songs are more than 3 months since they were promoted as singles. That's textbook definition of relevant.

EDIT: IRRELEVANT AS IN WHEN YOU ARE DISUCUSSING THE BEST OUT
First off, no this is not Napoleon

I've been a big supporter of this guy but let's face the facts people...he just can't keep up with Drake or Kendrick :yeshrug:

I wanted to see this guy do well but he's an idiot and that's never gonna happen.

Drake and Kendrick are out here dropping better albums, going platinum, and getting GQ covers while this nikka is out here selling his soul making songs like Crooked Smile tryna be Tupac Junior yet still failing to get accolades from it.

Drake is the head of the mainstream side of hip-hop while Kendrick is the head of the "real rap" side and J. Cole is in the middle. Not enough for either side.

Why listen to his love songs when Drake does it better? Why listen to his "lyrical songs" when Kendrick does it better? Why listen to his beats when they're trash? It's hard for me to find a reason to listen to one of my former favorite artists in 2013 when I can find someone doing it better than him :sadcam:

Unless he makes some serious changes musically and starts giving a shyt between now and his next project, he's gonna get wiped out :wow:
kendrick isn't "real rap" to me more than Drake is, but I take it most people don't wanna go down that argument route.

It just sounds like your expectations of him were off, doesn't make sense to call him irrelevant based on that. He makes quality music, sells well, gets airplay and recognition.

Who cares about rankings. And I've never heard of Kendrick being the "head of real rap" :bryan: What does that even mean and who's giving these ranking out? I

You know what I meant though. I don't know what to call that nikka but he is on the opposite spectrum of Drake. The side that "real hip-hop" heads love.

You know how that shyt goes bruh, stop it. Whenever this nikka does something people classify it as real rap, real hip hop. When GKMC dropped magz were sayin real rap is back and all that bullshyt.

Okay I see what you mean. But there isn't much he can do about other rappers success and popularity.

All he can do is focus on his grind and work, and while haven't been a big fan of his music lately (last project I liked was Friday Night Lights) I can't argue with his success and the fact that most aren't doing any better than him even they do have better music more publicity than him. The brother flourishing in a time where most hip hop artist crap out at only 125,000 sold or getting little or no air play.

Trenchcoat flow, bottom line
To these too cool for school nikkas I'm Columbine
Flow dumber than your projections
This makes twice now, I doubled what you expected, yet
Your covers keep perplexin' me
Maybe it's too complex for me
But is this 'bout skills or is this 'bout sales?
Cause either fukkin' way, man all them nikkas is less to me

yawn.

Drake outclassed dude on the rest of that song.

I'm pretty sure you chose to ignore that.

But he is also to blame for his success and popularity remaining stagnant. At this point Born Sinner is on pace to sell just as much as his first album because the music is just as average. He needs to step it up imo.
