This trailer was underwhelming AF and the breh @Off The Top is right about Captain Marvel's punch form. How's the trailer gonna talk the big talk about "I know a renegade soldier when I see one" and have the MC punch like a fukking amateur? Where they do that at?

Either way the thread could give way to meaningful discussion such as: "why did Marvel decide to go this route?" I know female heroship is selling like hot cakes (that Supergirl mess is still running), but Captain Marvel though? Really? Rogue from X-men is more interesting.

They had to play the ball where it was and Captain Marvel at the time was one of the few female characters they had the rights to. Admittedly I'm not the biggest Carol Denvers book fan, she was always the one with a stick up her ass during the Civil War issues. Committing basic ass mistakes out of her sense of duty that doesn't take into account the shades of grey.

A cold, unloyal "Hero" (imagine me doing the real life quote signs here) that is ready to sacrifice everything for "the greater good" (again here). Hiding under the guise of ruthlessness. Making a mess of everything just to achieve her own goals, which are "unquestionably" right. Even when her own intuition tells her she's in the wrong...she does "what must be done", with little thought for the consequences of her choices.

And everything you described makes for a dope character to me. Not saying she's the best hero at all not saying she's the person I'd pick if I was in a fire fight because she might shoot me in the back but that's a great character and that's the first thing you need for a dope story; that's what makes her interesting.

But to stay somewhat on topic, this is do-or-die for Carol Danvers. I've fallen off a bit but she's been getting a Roman Reigns type push in the comics despite pretty much every book of hers flopping (while Kamala Khan is taking her previous title and making it hers), all for this moment. If this movie flops...they'll kill her off and leave her on the shelf for a few years. Book it.
