the electoral college suppresses a lot of the vote by discouraging people from voting. there must be millions of people who say "my state is blue/red anyway, so why bother" and just skip it

whereas if it were a national popular vote, as it should be for the president, then their vote would count. as opposed to this bullshyt, where everyone on the losing side in the state gets their vote thrown in the trash

Remove five counties from Cali and it's Red as Dawn. Entire states are blue only because the majority of the population lives in one or two cities... fukk everybody else.

Electoral college has a place. If the only votes that count are the five burroughs, miami-dade, LA, and Philly.....yeah, no.

For myself I want every absentee ballot to be counted because guess what: they don't.

Clinton LOST damn near 6 million of the votes Obama gaines. this is not a problem with popular vote versus electoral count. this is strictly about a toxic candidate who couldn't be bothered to campaign herself to prove why she was the best option and expected other people to do the heavy lifting for her.

Someone elsewhere pointed out Trump talked jobs and putting people back to work while Hillary focused on crap only the media cared about. No one cared about Trumps locker room talk. Cuban ladies got on tv and said who gives a fukk. They wanted to hear about shyt Clinton was not focusing on.

Trump did. Trump wins.

i agree...i do think people have the attitude of 'well, my state is gonna be red/blue anyway, so it doesnt matter'....and i agree the system needs to be changed/modified....to me, if they can some way have the popular vote factor into the election along with the electoral college it would be better....

with that said, that's why i created this thread...cause while people are saying 'fukk it' in regards to the presidential race, they need to realize there is more to vote for on the ballot than just the president....also, that there are more elections than just the presidential one....

tagging yall cause i see yall active in voting threads trying to enlighten people about voting....not whether they have to or not, just the basics about the process, so they can know more for the future.... seeing if yall wanted to drop some gems in here....anything you do is much appreciated....
I don't know if I'm the best source right now. I feel disenfranchised with the whole process and don't believe that giving people the ability to vote really gets people any closer to what they need. For a democracy to be effective, people have to have awareness and a genuine interest in making things better. I don't think we have that.

Because of many people staying home altogether, the Republicans now own almost a supermajority of State governments and could pass a Constitutional Amendment
