I think one of the biggest problems is that even to this day, A LOT of people aren't exactly sure how Affirmative Action works. If accurate information was equally dispersed, I think a lot of AA's naysayers would be silenced.

You definitely have a point. Dudes with advanced degrees running around claiming that their job is going to be given to a black kid without a high school education...rubbish.

Well, it certainly doesn't help minorities break the 60K and up pay bracket. I can tell you that.

affirmative action doesn't benefit Black people but for some reason CACs think it does...It helps gays and white women more than anyone...Yeah I said it neg me all y'all want.
which is funny because every white person I know who has been against it when the subject is brought up.

In an ideal world society would be a pure meritocracy and we wouldn't need Affirmative Action

But we don't live in an ideal world so I believe in AA in most cases :yeshrug:

Most companies just follow it to meet mandated quotas

Uneducated people stay losing.
Similiar to people who work mim wage jobs and are AGAINST raising the mim wage because they think it will raise the cost of living and make the economy worse, even tho thats been proven to be false :mjpls:

Like I read in another, poor people are here to be taken advantage of.

A documentary proved that resumes with an 'ethnic sounding' name received 40% less callbacks than 'traditionally white sounding' names when it came to hiring and employment even when the candidates had the same education and employment background. When these sort of discriminatory practices are found TIME AND TIME AGAIN, how can one really argue against AA?

No one ever really seems to have an answer for that.

Not to mention Wal-Mart was recently brought to task for not placing women in upper management positions. You need these sort of programs. Without them, it's very clear that the top brass have no interest in creating fairness in the workplace.

:shaq2: No, they wouldn't. Their opposition to affirmative action has always been grounded in preventing black people from having access to the same institutions they are freely admitted to. They don't care if beneficiaries of affirmative action are qualified. They simply do not want blacks to receive any assistance against the system of white supremacy that keeps them disenfranchised and poor.

:(

Ugh. This makes me sad. I know you're probably more right about this than I want to admit.

"I don't think I should get a job over a white person if I get a lower mark on a test. I don't think I should get accepted into a school over a white person if I get a lower mark on a test. But if there's a tie? ....fukk em."

It's crazy how misinformation works

They disenfranchise think that giving the people who are oppressing them more money, will make they be nicer to you. Never happens.

And thats where our country is today.:sadcam:
