No for real , Ive been thinking about making this thread since last seasons playoffs.

I never even heard of verticality until last year.

My point last year was that no Center has ever been able to play defense like Hibbert.

I also said it's physically impossible to rotate to a spot on the floor stand still and jump straight up.

Ive always said that all players and teams that want to be successful in the NBA should just refer themselves as "hardnosed defenders first and foremost" every chance they get, and try to get others to say the same about them. If you have talent on offense, thats gonna become obvious anyway just through your play, but defense is different. So much of who's considered a great defender and who gets the benefit of the doubt on these things is based on reputation and expectations. If you can plant the idea that you're a defensive beast, it'll become something you're known for, you'll start to win awards and distinctions and refs will give you a ton more leeway to play physically. Its basically a self-fulfilling prophecy.
