Shored up money by (gasp) dishing out plans that benefitted the consumer. Branded this tactic as the UnCarrier. Invested in their towers. Now everybody from shareholders to users eat. ATT's failure merger was such a big boost money wise. 
But this is the odd one out, as most execs gut the company and cash out at everyone's expense and don't do a phoenix rise. Probably has to do with the parent company Deutsche Telekom being German and not US-born. As a contrast, look at cancers like ATT and how they move.

Can confirm. Use to be att but we jumped ship when T-Mobile started making moves around 2014 I think.
Am mostly happy. 5g is great. Coverage can still be spotty at times tho.

Did the same, only because T-Mobile wouldn't get coverage at specific areas I had to be and Verizon would. Is T-Mobile still the cheapest service of the two?

There coverage is better than Verizon now. A few years ago it was ass. T-Mobile is cheaper
The value is there but the service can still be spotty on occasion.
Still the best bang for your buck in wireless. But Verizon and At&t are a little more reliable.
Tmobile tuesdays is also fire.
