His contemporaries were getting production from RZA, Premo, Dre, Pete Rock, The Hitmen etc in their prime
But the production matched the songs. So Premo is going to make Hail Mary better? How? RZA is going to make "Hold Ya Head" better? How? Hell, the "Toss It Up" beat on the album sounds better than the track over "No Diggity". "Me and My Girlfriend" aint a classic track that Ye ruined?

Makaveli was the master piece that it was and it should have stayed that way. Pac wanted to give new producers a chance to shine and they gave him a sound that was distinct from what Death Row was putting out. RZA, DRE, Premo wouldn't have flowed with the heavy shyt Pac was saying on there.

You remember that article in XXL where they interviewed the producers who made the Makaveli album and one of them was talking about how Pac wanted to make that Me and My Girlfriend beat from SCRATCH? Dude said he was sweating bullets in that studio:bryan:

Kendrick 26 :dwillhuh:......I thought breh was a young nikka like 22 or 23. Homie only a year younger than me :wtf:

90% of all the new and popular artists out now are over 25.

The only young popular artists under that range are Rocky, Mac, and Sean.

Alright I get what youre saying. but if Tupac's message/delivery is such that he can only go over that basic ass Johnny J shyt, I dont think he can be considered the pinacle of hip hop. :yeshrug:
He didnt elevate the artform in the way that Biggie, Nas and Ghostface did

hes like Bob Dylan in that respect. Dylan sang over the most simple instrumentation possible, because he just wanted to clearly convey a message. This helped him, as a cultural figure.. but on a musical level hes not in the same league as Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles etc. because the intricate composition & groundbreaking experimentation isnt there.

I know everyone knows this, but it really sunk into me earlier when I was talking to some cats at work about Hall of Fame. One dude was talking about how it had no buzz but that's OK cause Sean is still young and barely tipping the ceiling of his "potential."

So I go online later and I think...got damn, that nikka 25...sure, he's young, but he's the same age Pac was when he died. You hear a bullshyt record like Hall of Fame and then realize that dude is the same age Pac was when he recorded The 7 Day Theory. That shyt don't even make any got damn sense. :mindblown:

Look at these ages:

Drake - 26
Kendrick - 26
Big Sean - 25
J. Cole - 26
A$AP Rocky - 24
Big KRIT - 27
Meek Millz - 26
French Montana - 28
Wale - 28
Action Bronson - 29
Future - 29
Danny Brown - 32
Pusha T - 36

When you really sit back and compare the music those cats are making, where they are in their careers and what their content touches on and you compare it to what Pac did before the age of 26 -- the records he made, the lyrics he wrote, the issues he touched on. :banderas:

He really was a gift from God :blessed:
Compare how safe this nikka Lil Sean is to the GOAT.

I don't know what it is breh, but it seems like they stop making real nikkas like they used to.

Sean from the most dangerous and bankrupt city in US right now tho.

Well, no again. On ALL counts... Pac rapped over Dre and DJ Quik...

Aint no one tryin to hear Pac over no goddamn Premo... Imagine this track over some of those producers you mentioned, then I couldnt even drink and get it crackin to this shyt.

not every artist can be like Pac, that's the point. people are different, he had a pretty unique upbringing compared to most of the artists you named and he also got in the game early and released 5 albums while he was alive and had an incredible work ethic that 99% of artist can't match no matter what genre.

on the other side of it, look at what Cube did before he was 25 but then look what happened AFTER that. every rapper has a fall off, some come back and some fall off the map completely. Maybe Pac would have fallen off, maybe he would have switched to acting full time and be like LL.

Yeah which makes it even more insulting how safe and cookie cutter he is.

So its insulting that his parents managed to raise him in a good home so he wouldn't be out in the streets like that? A dangerous upbringing is necessary to being a rapper?

This socially conscious, wise young man, joined a street gang at 25. Think about that for a minute. He epitomizes the smart "dumb nikka". Chief Keef and them are young dumb nikkas, with no clue about shyt, 2Pac was full aware of his actions and behaved like a savage for a rep. He was a pathetic excuse for a human being.
