Nah, for real. Rass was one of my favorite west coast spitters. I would have paid good, GOOD money to see him and Kurupt battle each other in their primes.

He was also one of the first artists to make me recognize just how diverse the west coast actually was as far as rap goes.

Ras' has one of Hip Hop's saddest stories.

But he made a lot of dumb moves too though. This cat was probably one of the illest lyricists in this shyt in the mid' 90's. I remember readin' The Source heavily back in like '96, and they would have tons of his verses in there like every other issue.

He's made some foolish choices, like choosin' to stay with Priority for more money, instead of singing with Dre. Then his drinkin' problem really sidelined his career, durin' a time when his buzz was finally starting to pick up, he ended up locked up. Hip Hop is all about timing. And he just wasted too many opportunities.

But I'm still fukkin' with Soul on Ice like it dropped yesterday.

Soul On Ice is a top 5 LP of all time to me....right up there with Illmatic, Ready to die, and Reasonable Doubt.

I remember the first time I listened to it...when "on earth...." came on I got the same vibe I got when I first heard NY state of mind.

IMO...he still has it in him to drop a really dope project if he collabs with someone to push him to spit what's real..something dark and nasty. With sinister production and a nice creative album concept, dude could drop something his fans wanna hear. He needs that inspiration.

i dunno man...in a freestyle battle Kurupt was the type to just wear a dude down. Ras Kass would be the early KO guy, but Kurupt would be the fighter with the iron chin & enough stamina for an old school 15-round bout.
