Most men would never call this movie their all time favorite but the few who do identify with Forrest. I like & feel sympathy for the main character but I don't identify with him. I dated a guy that said this was his favorite movie of all time. I think its a classic so I didn't think anything of it. Found out that he was an absolute and complete pushover yet wondered why his life was so chaotic. I started noticing a similar pattern with others who would call this movie their all time favorite or g.o.a.t.What the hell

Watched this abomination of a movie in its entirety for the first time in my life tonight. If this isn't the ultimate simp tragedy I don't know what is.
How could any heterosexual man like this movie? I can understand women liking it because it sells them the dream that they can hoe it up in their prime only to have a simp they curved for decades come in after they hit the wall to save the day. Some of y'all have weird takes. The kid was his and she had hepatitis not aids. She spend her whole childhood looking out for him, and she just wanted to get out of that town.
Pretty sure it was AIDS. "Some new virus/illness, they don't know what it is yet" (paraphrasing). Fits the timeline of AIDS perfectly. Hep was a known thing already.
