That meryl streep (who under 40 even knows this lady?) speech is essentially a rally cry to Trump's base and just garners another roll of the eyes from moderate's like myself

Salute to her publicist for putting the battery in her back so she could get all this free press, because that's what this is all really about.

Who cares what this old white lady has to say about society. She is the definition of white privilege and all her white guilt and fake outrage will never change any of that.

Mary Louise Streep was born on June 22, 1949 in Summit, New Jersey,[10] the daughter of Mary Wolf Wilkinson (1915–2001), a commercial artist and art editor; and Harry William Streep Jr. (1910–2003), a pharmaceutical executive.

Seeing my liberal friends share it on FB this morning with captions like "YAAAS QUEEN" just shows how sheepish some of these liberals are to celebrity opinions. :hhh:

It's comical how most liberals grew up and luxury and had an easy life. I'd guess I too would feel some guilt if I had my success gifted to me from birth. But like Meryl and most others, I probably wouldn't feel guilty enough to give up any of my millions or attempt to help bring up the lower class.

I don't even like Meryl Streep but I enjoyed her tearing into a Trump a bit
And this isn't a "rally[ing] cry" to Trump's base, this was a woman's speech about about a moronic, xenophobic, misogynist who a brain-dead section of the country voted in as President :heh:

it certainly contributed,

if you're going to talk about Liberals "idolising" celebrities
don't try to ignore the fact that Republicans literally voted for an A list reality TV star

....to his initial name recognition.

For better or worse, it was his strongman personality, frankness and polices that made him win.

Not "he's famous so he must be an authority because cool and trendy" like latte liberals do.
