Guy down here tried this using some internal mechanism he had to hide his plate
I'm not sure if he fully got away with it in the end but he did seem to get out of some of the charges:

they made new plates round here and the shyt is faulty it don't scan on camera

politician spent millions on this shyt. had to recall them but if you keep it you basically can avoid camera until they force you to change it. technically it's not illegal

Who drives 25mph in NYC of all places?

It's just another tax. It has gotten completely out of control to the point where it's on almost every street now.

THey used the "safety" excuse and started it in school zones....fine....then they just snuck it in everywhere else.

They knew exactly what they were doing.

And it's the same thing with congestion pricing in Manhattan...it isn't about controlling congestion...it's just a way to generate more revenue

My wife just got a ticket from those cameras the other day. Saying she was speeding in a school zone and there wasn't school near by

Speed cameras are no longer required to be on the same street as a school. They can be anywhere within a quarter mile radius.

They put cameras and speed zones for vision zero because too many pedestrians were getting killed by cars. Alot of young kids died over the years due to speeding.

They don’t even jam you up for 25 mph in New York they let you do 35 and they nail you on 36, if you get a ticket that’s on you or move to Nassau or Suffolk County

I have been thinking about this to. I have about $5k racked up in speeding camera tickets and these damn cameras ain’t gone slow me down either.

They are definitely putting these in certain areas.

In the suburbs I see people make illegal turns and do all kinds of illegal shyt on the road everyday. No cameras or police around to catch’em

I've actually seen a video of a guy who had one of these things on YouTube. I think he got pulled over by the cops, because obviously you can see it moving and closing when he covers his plate.

The cop would have to prove it.

If you were really smart you'd build an manual license plate cover you could control from inside your car.

Prolly not that hard to do if you had the time and persistence.

Or just not speed in areas with cameras.
