Beautiful country, pound for pound it's slugging it out with any country as far as women go, the North East of Colombia is where you'll find a lot of the Afro-Latinas. I chilled in the Northeast, spent most of my time going from Barranquilla to Cartagena to Santa Marta, great food and nice people. The food was great, the culture isn't as laid back as Brazil but even then it's more laid back than the US. I talk about Brazil a lot but Colombia is my 1b. right there with it.

I never got to go more inland to Medellin, Bogota or Cali, but I've been told Medellin is POPPIN and no place in Latin America produces more models than it. They are closer to the Pacific ocean, while where I was was on the Caribbean sea. You could easily find a cheap hostel or hotel in Colombia and it's not as dangerous as it used to be. If I could go back, I'd spend 2-3 months there and hit up all the major cities just to get the different vibes.

We don't have to reach or reminisce to ancient Egypt, ancient Africa, Mansa Musa, Omtecs, Chaka Zulu OR whatever ancient king/queen from Africa to make ourselves feel good. Do you know why? because we made our own history and identification in this world: food, music, national anthem, flag, land, water, OUR OWN HEROES and we are great NOW .

This identity dialogue that African Americans always having about Dominicans is one sided because Dominicans have bigger issues to worry about. That race debate is first world problem to us. and why online African Americans always have Dominicans on their fingertips?? what is the obsession?

Like @beanz have constantly said here...we are Dominicans FIRST...and everybody else...maybe you don't get that concept because you grew up in a country that you felt like you didn't belong??
