To my Cr brehs and brehettes out there. How difficult or not is it to go about life with a criminal record? How much does it affect work, travel, loan applications...etc...

Personally I'm at crossroads. I've got a trial coming up in 2months...in which I can fight or take a plea. Of course taking a plea ensures a criminal record which can wreck everything I've been working towards and beyond. But I really don't know to what extent since I've never been in trouble prior.

What should I expect if I choose to take a plea and accept a criminal record?

If it's not a violent offense or Class X felony, you'll be alright. Relatively speaking at least. If at all possible, ask your attorney to see if you can get the same sentence for whatever the charge is but have then downgrade it. In that case, you may be able to have it expunged from your record depending on what your charge is. Ask your lawyer if it's an expungible charge and work it out if it isn't.

Failure to remain at the scene of an accident is the charge. Let my spiraling life at the time get the best of me and made a bad decision. That being said its not a terribly serious crime. But serious enough to fukk me for the foreseeable future.
