The fact that they're basically admitting the "colorism" issue in this thread will only focus on relationships and standards of beauty shows that it's an insecurity problem as opposed to a "social" problem.

The biggest allies in my experience on this stuff has been lighter skinned women.

You might not be guilty of colorism, and black men and people as a whole are not in control of media, however, there is a segment of black men who are extremely color struck. And men have a monopoly over women when it comes to that, y'all are in control of what's deemed attractive and what's not in your communities. So black men shouldn't feign ignorance when it comes to this shyt, they should do they part in eradicating colorism within our community.

Black men can come out tomorrow and say dark skin women is just as beautiful as light skin women, it still will not stop white own media pushing light skin as pretty and dark skin as less than.

Black people know the system exist...they mention it all the time. They are not oblivious to it they juat don't care to do anything about it because they either bemefit or perpertrate it and these people are as bad as the racists.

I am really, REALLY tired of the dark skinned women are mean to light skinned girls trope. The abuse goes both ways...

I am brown skinned and grew up with MOSTLY lighted skinned (family, neighbors, school mates). I attended school with mostly light skinned children and the dark skinned children were TORTURED mentally and physically; made fun of and called the nastiest names (monkey, burnt, African booty scratcher, etc.), hit, pinched, spit at, scratched by light skinned. I was light "enough" to escape that treatment even though I am brown skinned.

I know lighted skinned people (Louisiana Creoles particularly) who openly discriminate against dark skinned blacks (call them jigaboos among other things) I have an aunt (by marriage) who does not allow dark skinned people in her home.

To be honest man Im glad my sister and cosuins grew up in the burbs, we had no clue there were any colorism issues until college. No joke we were all flabbergasted other blacks thought like this. I'll never understand it and I dont want to understand theres a lot of hostility I personally never saw but it just seems stupid. My mom is light my dad is medium.
