I hear you.

Although it’s mean, I still maintain ppl are going in on her because she looks old talking about pretty privilege, not because she’s light.

Again- Saweetie did the exact same thing last week and no one said anything about her looks, because he beauty is undeniable. And the whole thing died down and she’s still out here at fashion week taking pics and all that because…SHE IS PRETTY. Lmao

⬆️⬆️ THAT is pretty privilege.
No one’s mad. It is real.

Not the same complexion, obviously, but this chick called Lupita ugly and all of social media came together to gather her and tell her how ugly she is and how she has no room to call lupita ugly. Folks ain’t afraid to tell a dark skinned woman she doesn’t look good, if she in fact doesn’t look good

Again- not saying it’s ok for ppl to go in on people because of complexion, but because light skin is held to a higher degree in our community, mocking light skinned women is like mocking tall men. Dudes talk mess about tall guys because in the end everyone knows that’s women’s preference. Ppl talk mess about light skinned women because in the end everyone knows that is the preference in the Black community.

It’s like blonde hair/blue eyed women getting called bimbos or ditzes or whatever White ppl say. “Stupid blonde”. But they know that’s what all White men like at the end of the day.

People “punch up”, not down.

when they talk about her looks most comments will reference her complexion

in saweetie case they talking about pretty privilege & that is a convo that can be had across complexion ethnicity nationality etcetera

lupita situation shows the flip i am talking about in the community where a conversation about her not being pretty like that turns into a need to defend all women of a similar complexion but within those conversations you will find very few comments that reference her complexion in a derogatory manner & if made the house will be brought down on the commenters head

the shyte that is said about bright complexion women is nowhere pointed as the shyte said about tall men it's a complete different charge in energy & comes from a whole different place connected to a much much much more serious history

regardless of being the preference or not where does that print the pass to green light the type of chat casually about folks of a certain complexion where if directed elsewhere it would be naacp on line 1¿

people want to reserve the right to punch up punch down whatever when the whole point is to keep your hands to your fukking self & make respect ubiquitous

how the fukk are folks that are supposed to be extended family a people a nation holding tight to defending & excusing ideological weapons of self sabotage crafted in hand with the exploitation/subjugation of slavery

motherfukkers will never win because they don't think it's much of a big deal to do the devils work

Social media is full of cap right now.

Colorism probably plays a role in her case and As color struck as some black people are I'm sure this woman got a lot of attention when she was younger and still has men in her age group hitting on her all the time now.
This 100%.

"Pretty Privilege" is a misleading title, but I wouldn't be shocked if she had light skinned privilege.

This is a foreign concept with my fellow Millenials and Gen Z nikkas because we came up in a time where dudes just dated whoever. If you want a Becky, get a Becky. If you want Ebony or Maria, get Ebony or Maria.

Boomer/Gen X nikkas talked all that pro-Black shyt, but would get them a yellabone or redbone (I see you Spike Lee) with the quickness. In her generation, the colorstruck nikkas would go for her. So...if you put her next to a brown skinned and darker skinned sista with comparable looks, she would get chosen more often back in the day.

They be color struck something serious. Simping on anything light skinned and procreating with them, while they have the WORST attitudes SMH.
I see wayyyyyyyy more dark skinned married couples in the South. Less white mixture with Southern Blacks too.

Only light brites I went to school with had white mommas (Dallas).

Nikkas up north just date Dominicans and Puerto Ricans....light skinned broads whose ancestors got on a different boat.

Naw she was talking about recent events.

That’s why ppl are going in. She ain’t talking about stuff that happened in 2000.

And of course colorism will always be a thing and ppl will react strongly to red/yellow bones saying these things because they are the preferred complexion when it comes to Black women’s beauty in our country. So yes ppl will be extra sensitive.

But at the end of the day a bad chick is a bad chick. Again, if this was a girl like Latto or something saying it, no one could say anything.

Saweetie said it last week and what happened? Ppl said she isn’t as talented as she thinks she is, but NO ONE denied her beauty, because you can’t. 🤷🏾‍♀️

This lady is talking about recent events, and that’s why ppl are going in.

Are they going a little too hard….? Yea. But they go just as hard on unattractive dark skinned women who think they the shyt :yeshrug:
They’re going in at the appropriate level. When she made the first video people really didn’t go in too bad but pointed out to her that she was describing colorism because she kept repeating that people always compliment her skin color, eye color, and hair. Several people pointed out that she was describing complimenting of specific features instead of her being beautiful in general. She made several follow up videos saying that people were hating on her and showed old pictures of herself before losing 170 pounds to show how “good” she looked when she was younger. That’s when people really went in and called her old looking and ugly. She’s also biracial. She couldn’t read the room and they tore her ass up. The only person who was sensitive was her. The internet just does what it does.

And you know darker Black women have gotten it much worse for simply existing. Nobody referred to her as an animal, called her undesirable, etc. The consensus was just that she looks much older than 50 and isn’t particularly pretty.

I didn’t even know all that about the story.
I just thought she clearly looked too old/didn’t maintain her looks to be going off like that.

It’s even worse than I assumed!

Well then.

Social media did what it needed to do 🤷🏾‍♀️

As @V Skyye just mentioned above, dark skinned women have literally been dehumanized and compared to animals when considered unattractive.

No one is advocating for light skinned women to be disrespected, and no one is dragging LIGHT SKIN. People are dragging HER.
And especially in the community at large, light skinned women aren’t being dragged like you’re making it seem…….

If she looked like Salli Richardson or Nicole Murphy or Mariah Carey or something, that would be a fine older woman who ppl would be like “yeaaaa…people probably do give her some issues”.

This is all part of a broader issue of women getting online to brag about being beautiful and fine and ppl being jealous when they don’t look that great. People don’t want to hear this stuff if you don’t actually look good. Lol

Again, if like, Kristy came out and said this stuff nobody would blink an eye. Because she probably does get crazy attention because she’s beautiful AND because she’s a light skinned woman. And she probably does get hate from people who have complexion issues.
Yes.

Again- It ain’t about the woman being light.
It’s about the wrinkles all over her face. That’s it. That’s all.

And no one would really even care if she didn’t lean into the shyt like it sounds like she did.

She brought most of it on herself. Most people just called her old looking and said she looks older than 50. So she made a separate video about older women still getting pretty privilege. Nobody called her a man, ape, bald headed, the most undesirable, etc like they do Black women. People called it exactly what it was, which was pure audacity. Beautiful women literally get on the internet talking about pretty privilege every day but it only goes viral when they miss the mark like Sawetee (lack of talent) and this lady (lack of looks).

Yeah, but brehs up north want to breed with these racially ambiguous thots with bad tempers and shytty entitlement attitudes, but still gassed up off of light skin and wavy hair. It's SIMPING and it's very disgusting, regardless your preference.
